The biggest challenge that I faced with this lesson was trying to figure out what to do, being

that
it could not be done in English. While teaching the lesson it was difficult to get my point across
because I could not communicate to the class in a way that they could understand. To overcome
these challenges we tried to use a lot of pictures and a lot of hand motions. This simulated trying
to teach ELL because we were speaking in a language that was not understandable to the people
we were trying to teach. As a student I relied most on pictures and hand motions. I related this to
ELL students because when other groups were teaching I was not able to understand them, as
ELL students would not be able to understand me. I think the purpose of this activity was to
understand how it feels to be an ELL student.
