Development is a broad concept that entails social, economic, political and human

development. Human development constitutes the foundation on which the first three concepts are
based. According to Burkey (1993:38), economic and political development must translate into social
development. Development means improvement in a country's economic and social conditions. More
precisely, it refers to advancements in the management of a region's natural and human resources. To
generate riches and enhance people's lives. The idea of development has numerous facets and has
evolved through time. Development is a process that creates growth, progress, positive change or the
addition of physical, economic, environmental, social and demographic components.

If you look at the city of Mati City then and now, there are changes that have really taken place
such as the presence of new establishments, malls, big hardware (City Hardware), newly opened Mati
Park and Baywalk, street lights, beautiful tourism spots, newly opened beautiful beaches and resorts, a
strongly pushed development of Mati Airport and many more. Apart from the many changes that took
place during every new administration, many changes have also been made in the city of Mati City. The
city is not well developed now, but I’m pretty sure the next administration and generation are the ones
for the changes that will take place in the area. The city has become more populous and there are also
many visiting tourists such as artists and wealthy businessmen because of its beautiful place especially
on the beaches. People were also happy to see the change in the city. That's why because of the
economy, the markets are a bit expensive, because of the country's economic trade. It is good that the
Livelihood program has been paid attention to and addressed for the people of Davao Oriental so that
they can have a good life. If I were to rate the development of the city, I’ll make it 7 because there is still
more need to develop in city like business, factories that can give people to have work and to develop
the city's economy.
