Terminal Speaking Exam Sample

Speaking 1

Tell your teacher about your friend or family member.

You can talk about:


 nationality

 brothers and sisters

Use this structure:

1. Introduce your friend or family member to your teacher.



2. Say where your friend or family member is from.

3. Give extra information.

Remember to stress important words.

What would you say in these situations? Remember to use:

 expressions for getting attention

 correct stress and intonation for questions
1. You are doing a survey for class. You want to ask someone a few questions for
the survey.
2. It’s hot in the classroom. Ask your professor if you can open the window.
3. Two classmates are talking. You need to borrow a pen.
4. You have an appointment tomorrow. Ask your professor if you can be late for
class tomorrow.
Give your opinion about the best kind of accommodations. Use phrases for giving an opinion. Think
about your pronunciation and try to link consonants and vowels.

You can talk about:


 location
 design
 size
 rooms
 facilities
 cost

Talk about a trend that is happening in your school or college. Use the present progressive to talk about
the changes over time and give at least one advantage and one disadvantage to the trend. Give your
opinion and reasons about why you are for or against the trend. Be sure to use contractions and correct
word stress. Use the planner below to help you plan what you will say.

Use this structure to talk about your picture.


 Introduction: the subject of the photo, when it was taken, where it was taken
 Body: Talk about what’s happening in the photo.
 Conclusion: Say why it is or isn’t a good photo. Why do you like/dislike it?
Remember to use phrases to describe the location of things in the photo, and pay attention to your
pronunciation of /p/ and /b/.

Make three predictions about your life in the future.
