1. Enumerate & explain the effect of the org. upon its environment & cite example.
a.) The utilization of natural resources as a part of its production process.
• Natural resources are indeed a crucial part in every businesses’
operations. Natural resources are the source of the raw materials that
the organization uses for its production from various plants, minerals,
water, oil, gases etc. Thus, it’s important for organizations to be aware
and participate in the proper utilization and protection of these natural
resources to prevent the scarcity in raw material which can cause a
disruption in the organization’s operations.
• The example of this is the use and consumption of natural resources for
the production of goods and services. Specific example is when fast food
chains make use of poultry goods to make their dishes.
b.) The effect of competition between itself and other organizations in the same
market.
• Competition is inevitable when you’re in the business industry,
competition for customers, for raw materials, for suppliers or new clients.
However, competitions are sign of a thriving economy. Competition also
encourages more innovations to happen as firms’ desire to race first in
the market with new invention or products. It also encourages
organizations to improve both their product and marketing strategy to
pique the customers’ interest, they may also offer lower prices, higher
quality of products and better customer service which are beneficial for
both the customers and business.
• The telecommunication industry in the country has a competitive market
as of today naming the biggest telecom companies, PLDT, Globe, Sky and
the new emerging competitor DITO.
c.) The enrichment of local community through the creation of employment
opportunities.
• Providing more employment opportunities to the locals are one of the
positive effects of an organization to its external environment. Human
resources are as important as the natural resources for business
operations. Businesses are always looking for knowledgeable and skilled
workers to recruit as they can serve as the company’s asset and
competitive advantage. More businesses and investments in the country
equals to more job opportunities for the citizens.
• The example of this is when government and business organizations are
working together to provide more employment opportunities such as
livelihood programs, job fairs etc.
d.) Transformation of the landscape due to raw material extraction or waste product
storage.
• The extraction of raw materials to be used for production can cause
transformation and even damage to the landscape. I think that this effect
is related to the utilization of natural resources, these natural resources
can be grow and found on different landscapes. Rare minerals and metals
are also wrought from earth. To satisfy our needs and wants we blast
mountains, flattened hills, and make concreted roads to build cities and
buildings. These extractions sustain our modern society and some
business would rather transform landscapes and alter its composition to
meet demands for more product. Thus, the reason on why the variety of
landscapes continue to decrease.
• The example of this effect is when mining industries blast mountains to
mine minerals, or when a deforestation happened to convert the land for
agricultural purposes or for urbanization purposes.
e.) The distribution wealth created within the firm to the owners of that firm and the
workers of that firm and the effect of these upon the welfare of individuals.
• The organization must make sure that the employees’ and stakeholders’
effort are valued. The payment for their works either by wages/salaries
or dividends must be have the appropriate value and any incentives are
appreciated and motivational for the employees.
• The example proper contribution of wealth among the owners and
workers are when they’re are properly compensated for their work and
are given right incentives and benefits such as the SSS, Phil Health ,
PagIbig, insurances, 13 month pay etc.
f.) The greatest concern has been with the climate change and the way in which the
emission of greenhouse gases are producing adverse effect.
• Organizations must also be aware on their effect on the environment
especially on their contribution on industrial greenhouse gases emissions.
The productions and operations on factories can also emit greenhouse
gases, thus, organizations must support and formulate practices towards
climate neutrality.
• The example of this is the organizations that burns fuels to be used in
their productions of goods.

2. Write an essay "Why People Work?”

Why People Work? If you ask this question to anyone around you, what do you
think their answer will be? For money? Dignity? Passion? We perceive our works
differently, some works to pay for their due rents and bills, and some may say they work
for because the job is their passion or responsibility. Whatever the reasons, people work
to fulfill our needs.
The first need that working meets is the need to purchase basic necessities such
as food, water and shelter as well as to be able to purchase your own desires such as
branded clothing, your artists’ merchandise or subscriptions for entertainment. It
motivates people to work when they can earn salary knowing that they have the
capability to pay their bills and support their family’s needs. Though money can be a
very useful leverage in motivating people to work, it’s not solely the reason why people
work. People also work to satisfy their needs for recognition and affirmation. A person
with a stable job has a respectable image in the society, they are often praise because of
their contribution in the community. People also works to satisfy their needs for self-
improvement. Through working, people can exploit many opportunities to learn and
utilize new skills and knowledge. The workplace is a perfect place to meet new
acquaintances and gather knowledge. We can also relate The Maslow’s Hierarchy of
Needs to the question on how people work because it also satisfies the peoples’
physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization needs.
To conclude, though working may be exhausting and difficult part of our daily
lives, it is still rewarding with the benefits it brings to us. Besides the money that we can
earn from it, people also work for many important purposes, including the society
recognition and affirmation, self-satisfaction and to fulfill our responsibility towards our
country to help them thrive and grow.
