We are delighted to inform you that Gloria 1 Junior High School will be participating in the world-
renowned ICAS competitions this year.

What is ICAS Assessments?

New ICAS Assessments are online assessments, designed to recognise and reward academic
excellence, in particular subjects from Years 3 through 12. Students are assessed on their ability to
apply classroom learning to new contexts, using higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills.
ICAS is an independent, skills-based assessment program which recognises and rewards student
achievement. ICAS is unique, being the most comprehensive generally available suite of academic
assessments for primary and secondary school students.

The assessments comprise Digital Technologies tests, English tests, Mathematics tests, and Science
tests.

The assessments are developed annually for each subject in every year level to ensure an engaging
and beneficial experience for all students by the expert academic team. Students are asked to
demonstrate a deeper, integrated, and thorough level of knowledge. All ICAS tests are reviewed by
experienced teachers to ensure that they accurately assess students’ skills and are relevant to what
they are learning at school.

Each assessment celebrates students’ accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition and
development. Every student who participates will receive a printed certificate and an online results
report. Top performers will be eligible for medals.

How to participate in ICAS

If you wish to have your child participate in ICAS this year, please:
1. Read about ICAS subjects here (http://www.utc.co.id/page/Subject)
2. Decide on the test/s your child will sit
3. Contact you ICAS Coordinator in your school.

We are proud to offer ICAS and look forward to some fantastic results later in the year.
