This modification consists of certifying A319-115 and A319-133 aircraft for takeoff and landing
operations at high altitude airports (up to 14 500 feet).
1. OPERATING LIMITATIONS
Single Aisle aircraft with this modification can operate on a runway altitude of up to 14 500 ft.
As a result, the takeoff and landing envelopes for A319-115 and A319-133 aircraft have been
extended to 14 500 ft, and are provided below:
In addition to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the flight crew should apply specific
procedures for airport operations up to 14 500 ft. The impact of this modification on the
procedures are summarized below:
In cruise:
- Check CAB ALT: If above 8 000 ft, the flight crew should manually adjust LDG ELEV at
8 000 ft.
At top of descent:
- Set the HIGH ALT LDG pushbutton to ON: Passenger oxygen masks are dropped at a
CAB ALT of 16 000 ft, instead of 14 000 ft.
After landing:
- For an airport pressure altitude that is higher than 14 100 ft, set the cabin pressure control
to manual mode and command the outflow valve to the fully open position. (CAB PRESS
to MAN and MAN V/S to FULL UP).
On ground operation:
- The HIGH ALT LDG pushbutton should remain ON.
Engine start:
- In order to ease engine start, electrical ENG GEN and hydraulic ENG PUMPS must be set
to OFF.
Takeoff:
- In the case of an aborted takeoff, or a return to gate, set the CAB PRESS to MAN and
MAN V/S to FULL UP.
Top of climb:
- Check LDG ELEV on AUTO.
- Set the HIGH ALT LDG to OFF when the cabin pressure altitude is below 12 000 ft, and is
decreasing.
