Tom lives in a small town in Nebraska.

The town is called Fremont, and it’s about half an hour from Omaha, the biggest
city in Nebraska. But Tom works as a truck driver, so he spends a lot of time out
of town, too.

He drives from Nebraska to Texas, or to California, or to New York. Wherever

his boss tells him to go. He spends 5 or 6 days on the road, and then he’s back
at home for a few days to rest.

Nebraska has a lot of agriculture, so usually his truck is full of beef, pork, corn
or soybeans.

He has a wife and two kids in Nebraska. His wife’s name is Janine, and his kids
are Katie and Walker. Katie is 4 years old, and Walker is 2. He loves his wife
and his kids very much, and he feels bad that he doesn’t spend more time with
them.

When he’s on the road, driving his truck, Tom stays in hotels. He eats breakfast,
lunch and dinner in truck stop diners. A lot of the time he has breakfast in one
state, lunch in another, and dinner in another.

Today, he’s driving to New York. He’s driving a refrigerated truck full of beef to a
supermarket in Manhattan.

He likes his job, but sometimes it’s a bit boring. He spends a lot of time alone,
on the road, and he feels lonely.

Tomorrow, he’ll arrive in New York, and after unloading the truck, he’ll go to
sleep in a hotel. The next day, he’ll reload the truck with something else and
drive back to Nebraska. He’s looking forward to seeing his family again.

Tom vive en un pequeño pueblo de Nebraska.

El pueblo se llama Fremont y está a media hora de Omaha, la ciudad más

grande de Nebraska. Pero Tom trabaja como camionero, por lo que también
pasa mucho tiempo fuera de la ciudad.

Conduce desde Nebraska a Texas, oa California, oa Nueva York. Dondequiera

que su jefe le diga que vaya. Pasa 5 o 6 días en la carretera y luego vuelve a
casa para descansar unos días.

Nebraska tiene mucha agricultura, por lo que generalmente su camión está

lleno de carne de res, cerdo, maíz o soja.

Tiene esposa y dos hijos en Nebraska. El nombre de su esposa es Janine y

sus hijos son Katie y Walker. Katie tiene 4 años y Walker 2. Ama mucho a su
esposa y a sus hijos, y se siente mal por no pasar más tiempo con ellos.

Cuando está en la carretera, conduciendo su camioneta, Tom se hospeda en

hoteles. Desayuna, almuerza y cena en los comedores de las paradas de
camiones. La mayor parte del tiempo desayuna en un estado, almuerza en otro
y cena en otro.

Hoy conduce a Nueva York. Está conduciendo un camión frigorífico lleno de

carne de res hacia un supermercado en Manhattan.

Le gusta su trabajo, pero a veces es un poco aburrido. Pasa mucho tiempo

solo, en la carretera, y se siente solo.
Mañana llegará a Nueva York y, tras descargar el camión, se irá a dormir a un
hotel. Al día siguiente, volverá a cargar el camión con algo más y regresará a
Nebraska. Está deseando volver a ver a su familia.
