2. Synopsis This is an introductory course that surveys child development from a


multidisciplinary scientific and spiritual or religion perspectives.
Development from birth through emerging adulthood is explored in
three primary areas, or domains: physical, cognitive and socio-
emotional. This longstanding debate of whether nature or nurture
has the more powerful influence on human development.
Additionally, the psychological and socio-cultural influences on
development will be explored.

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Describe about child development from current, religion & cultural perspectives, citing
relevant theories and beliefs.
2. Classify and interrelate prenatal development, prenatal care and caring for the newborn child.
3. Discuss and relate the physical, emotional, cognitive and social development of a child in the
early years, school age and beyond.
