look into the rest of the report. Generally, executives and academics will first go
through the executive summary and decide whether to read further or discard it.

In this chapter, you are expected to present the following:
 Name and other broad details of the organisation, such as the
economic sector(s) where you can place it, its age, its geographical
coverage, its brand equity, and such other details as would encourage
the reader to probe further in your report.
 Basis of your decision to carry out summer project in the selected
organisation.
 What the reader can expect to know about the organisation in the rest
of this part of the report.

2. The Company/Organisation
 A Brief History of the Company, its evolution and a broad picture of its
current status.
 Vision and Mission statements and their explanation.
 Milestones since inception.
 Governance and Organization structure.
 Present Product/Service Mix/Profile
 Geographical Spread of the organisation (i.e. areas of operation)

3.1 Markets and Marketing Function
 Products and Markets, Demand Patterns and Market Behaviour

company you are studying.

from Non-Traditional retail super store.

PROJECT FORMAT SPECIFICATION

The total marks for the SIP project will be 100 and it carries 6 credits.
The marks will be awarded for the following aspects:

i) Introduction: Clear understanding of the topic/subject; understanding of the


organisation/unit//field.

ii) Literature Review: Published studies, review of similar studies

iii) Details about the study: Objectives, formulation of the problem, scope, and
rationale of the study.

iv) Methods/methodology adopted for the study: Analytical, Survey, Field Work or
any other method with appropriate justification and reasoning.

v) Analysis and conclusions: The logic of analysis, source of data, whether the
conclusions are in line with the objectives, etc.

vi) Contribution and learning from the project: Details of the contribution of the
study, the benefits to the organisation, the learning from the study for the student,
etc.

vii) Acknowledgements: References/Citations and Bibliography and help, if any,,


received from other individuals/organisations.

viii) Presentation of the report, format of the report, flow of the report, style,
language, etc.

ix) Presentation of the report to the examiners: Substance and treatment of
