Reinforcement Activity 3. Assess yourself with the following cases.

What would you think or do if

presented with the following?

1. A person selling a bar of gold approached you. The person says it is pure gold and showed you a
shining, gold-colored metal bar. He gave you a price and will turn over you the gold bar if you
would give him the money.

- If the seller gave me a reasonable price, I would look at it and consider buying it, depends on
how much money I have but I’ll make sure first that the gold bar is real, but if their price is
suspicious— cheaper than expected— then I’m pretty sure it is a scam, and I won’t buy it.

2. A person tells you that a member of your family met an accident and asks you to meet him with
a certain amount of money as down payment for the hospital bill.

- I will refuse meeting them if it is not in the hospital. The message was too suspicious to begin
with, I will not risk my safety and our money, especially in these days there are too many
scammers. I will have to make sure first if it is true, I’d ask them what had happened exactly and
request a picture of my family who got into an accident in the hospital.

3. Somebody came out in the media accusing another person to be a crook.

- I have encountered these kind of posts in social media. Some of them were true, some are just
posted to destroy another person’s image. One thing I learned from this kind of situations is that
we should first look for credible sources or proofs if the claim is true. It is hard to believe
everything posted in social media nowadays.
