1. INTRODUCTION :
TOPIC INTRODUCTION :

The state government has decided to develop the Worli dairy plot on sea face as an international tourist complex and aquarium.
An international standard aquarium will be built there.
The proposed tourist complex, with a “world class” aquarium inside, will be spread over a plot at the defunct Worli Dairy, with the
state tourism department.
Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, had asked the tourism department to prepare a plan to build an aquarium in Mumbai.

WHAT IS AQUARIUM ?

An aquarium is that which has at least one transparent side in which aquatic plants or animals are kept and displayed.
Aquariums are built to reshape expectation.
Giving visitors a new vantage point to observe freshwater and marine life, these structures range in scale from simple exhibits to
elaborate public aquaria.

WHAT IS OCEANARIUM ?

An Oceanarium can be either a marine mammal park, or a large-scale aquarium, presenting an ocean habitat with marine animals,
especially large ocean dwellers such as sharks.
An Oceanarium is an aquarium, and just a huge one that mimics a piece of the ocean and will tend to include open water aspects and
contain large animals that would never fit into an aquarium.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AQUARIUM AND OCEANARIUM :

It’s pretty much just about size.

An Oceanarium is an aquarium, and just a huge one that mimics a piece of the ocean and will tend to include open water aspects and
contain large animals that would never fit into an aquarium and sometimes even mammals, though aquatic mammals tend to fail in
confinement.
An aquarium is smaller, often fresh water, and represents a single habitat example of the environment due to size restrictions.

1. INTRODUCTION :
AIM :

The aim is to serve the purpose of recreational.

OBJECTIVE :

It will be an activity of recreational for people of all age groups.

The purpose is to change the way tourist and people interact with environment.

NEED :

India has a long coastline of 7,517 kms. It has the longest coastlines compared to most other countries.
The awareness of the vast ocean and its potentials is some thing that most of the people who live in a country with one of the
biggest coastline don’t have proper knowledge.

2. SITE LOCATION :
Worli Dairy is established in 1961
situated at Worli Seaface, Worli,
Mumbai.

Site is located 6 kms away from Dadar

railway station and 14 kms away from
Mumbai airport.

3. SITE INTRODUCTION :
The state government has decided to develop the 14-acre Worli dairy plot on sea face as an international tourist complex at an
estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
The Worli Dairy, established in 1961 has been running losses and is a sick unit.
First in 2013 and then again in 2016, the MMRDA had come up with a plan to build a convention centre on Worli Dairy land.
Though the other options for such a facility were in Navi Mumbai and Kalyan, Worli dairy land won hands, due to its prime location.
There have been several plans made in the past to put the locked land to better use, but to no avail. Some of these failed plans are
listed below:
2018: Plans to sell the land to Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and talks conducted with chief
minister Devendra Fadnavis, who heads up MMRDA, on this subject.
It is reported that “if it works out, it would be a government-to-government sale”. With a government to government transfer this
prime urban land shall continue to remain locked. Being public land the only way to monetise it is by freeing it for private investment.
2014: There was a plan floated for turning the land into a convention centre in the city. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region
Development Authority (MMRDA) had come up with a plan to build a "world class convention centre"" in Worli. This plan, however,
never saw the light of the day.
2012: The State planned to set up a
Rs 150 crore oceanarium on the land.
An oceanarium was to be a large
seawater aquarium in which marine
animals would be kept for study and
public entertainment. The fisheries
commissioner stated that the site of
Taraporewala Aquarium was too
small for creating such a sea park and
that Worli dairy fit the bill. This plan,
never took off leaving the valuable
land abandoned.

CIRCULATORY SYSTEM :

of sand, graveland pebbles. Here it is gotten rid of impurities and
other noxious substances. It then flows to basement reservoir,
from where it is pumped up to a basement reservoir. It can now
drop by gravity to the display tanks.

FILTERED WATER SUPPLY :

The stability of water in the tanks is but illusory for it is in fact,
constantly being changed though invisible.
Once the water gets into the tanks it is allowed to remain there
for any length of time but over flows into the settling tank. The
reintroduction of water into filters is necessary to prevent the
circulation of fish food, decaying matter and other waste matter
before the water return to the underground reservoirs.

AIR SUPPLY :
Elaborate arrangements hav been made to ensure a constunt
stream of air into all the tanks.
The silvery jet of bubbles, spiraling to the surface of water from
the bed of the tank is compressed air released in each tank.
Proper aeration is necessary for the well being of the exhibits.
