WRITING INSTRUCTIONS (English Version)

The Journal of Society and Media

ARTICLE TITLE:
The title is the formulation of the contents of the discussion in a concise,
concise, clear (maximum of 14 words), and informative. The title is an interesting
issue to study (unlike the thesis title). The title is used in an important information
search system. It is highly recommended not to avoid unfamiliar terms. The
research location does not need to be mentioned in the title, but is explained in the
method chapter. The title is typed in regular letters, capital for each word
(Capitalize Each Word) and bold. Subtitles are written with non-capital
letters except for the first letter of the word. Location in the middle using the
font Times New Roman size of 13 pt, center type alignment, one spasi.

AUTHOR'S NAME & AFFILIATION:

Because it uses a blind review system, the names of the authors and affiliates
(institutions) are sufficiently written in the metadata when submitting articles
online on the OJS portal.

ABSTRACT:
Write your abstract in English and Indonesian. Abstracts no more 265
words. The abstract must be concise, factual, and briefly state the research
objectives, methods, results, discussion, and conclusions. An abstract is often
presented separately from the article, so it must be able to stand alone. The
abstract must avoid references, nonstandard or unusual abbreviations, but if the

abbreviation is considered important, then it must be defined in the first mention
in the abstract. (Times New Roman font 11 pt.)

Abstract
This study scrutinizes on the dilemma of educational systems of modern society in
Indonesia. The Educational institution so called "School" is a true evidence for this
phenomenon. Ideally, the school could educate their participants as a human diligent who
knows between true or false. Yet, in fact the participants continuously became a foolish and
oppressed human. Methodologically, to conduct data and information, the study employs a
qualitative approach as methodology as well as documentation and interviews as a technique
of data-gathering. The collected data is then analyzed and interpreted descriptively to get a
proper conclusion. Based on reliable sources, this study provides five cases that take place in
the Indonesia's education world. First is the unhumanist curriculum. Second are cases on the
student suicide and the violence toward the student. Third is the reality of elite school as a
business commodity. Fourth is the poor relationship between educators, students, and the
student organization. Fifth is expansion of school programs for the students. Eventually, we
must materialize a proper education system for Indonesian multiculturalism culture based on
the essence of education.

KEYWORDS:
Keywords consist of three to five words / phrases separated by commas, and
arranged according to the most commonly used. Use of keywords must avoid
general terms and double concepts. Be careful using abbreviations. Abbreviations
are only allowed if they are established and meet the requirements. Keywords will

WRITING STRUCTURE (IMRAD):

Writing must start with the title, abstract, and keywords. The main
manuscript must consist of an Introduction ( Introduction ), Method
( Method ), Results and Discussion ( Result and Discussion ), and Conclusion
( Conclusion ); followed by references or references.

INTRODUCTION (Heading 1) :
Introduction (Introduction) consists of study background, research problems,
previous research, and theoretical framework.

 METHOD (Heading 1):
The method (Method) must be clear and concise, containing systematic steps or
procedures taken in the study. Avoid using notions or references to
methods. (Times New Roman font, 12 pt.)

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION (HEADING 1):

Results (Discussion) and Discussion (discussion) contains the results of
research and discussion, generally includes the sub-article that explains and
reveals the results of the study, as well as analysis between its parts. (Times New
Roman font,12 pt.)

CONCLUSION (Heading 1):

Several points are deduced from the subject discussed in the article. (Times
New Roman, 12 pt.)

Other subject:
a. Picture
Presentation of an image can be in grayscale, or black and white, and can to
displays colors. Descriptions must be numbered within one space. The title must
consist of a short title (not the image itself) and an illustrative description. Pay
attention to writing texts, illustrations but explain, as minimal as possible using
symbols and abbreviations. Letters must be easy to read clearly and in
proportional size. Numbers must have a short description in the main part of the
text. For layout purposes, please provide each additional high resolution number
(≥300dpi) separately in .tif / .jpg / .jpeg in a specific folder other than the
script. And vice versa, don't mention the position of the image / table example:
"Figure below" or "table as follows" because the position will be rearranged in the
layout process. DO NOT put a box around the writing.

b. Table
The number of tables is made sequentially according to the appearance in the
text. Place footnotes to the table with lowercase letters. Avoid vertical rules. Be
careful when using tables and make sure that the data presented in the table does
not duplicate the results described in another section of the article.

Quote
Write a quote that is more than four lines long, place the quote in a free text
block and remove the quotation marks. Start a quote on a new line, with the entire
quote jutting from the left margin. Only indent the first line of quota by an
additional quarter inch. If quoting a few paragraphs. Quotations must be written
after closing punctuation. When citing two or more paragraphs, use the citation
block format, even if the portion of the paragraph is less than four lines. The first
line indent of each paragraph included an extra quarter inch.
Example:
Some time ago, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) received
complaints from women police officers from Aceh who were not
allowed to wear the hijab while carrying out their duties as a
Policewoman. The report was responded to by the MUI as a form of
violation of human rights in the world of work. Prohibiting the use of
headscarves for policewomen is a negative image of the police as a law
enforcement agency.
The same complaint came from a number of policewomen who served
in Central Java Regional Police. MUI explained that before the
policewomen had written a letter to the National Police Chief to get
permission to wear the hijab, but it was not granted. Bahwak after that,
was issued a circular from the National Police that stressed that only the
policemen wearing the Hijab uniform were wearing policemen who
served in the Nangro Aceh Darusalam Police (NAD) (republika.com).

Reference
The author must ensure that every reference in the text appears in the
reference list and vice versa. Wikipedia, personal blogs, or non-scientific sites
may not be used. All notes must appear as quotes in anonymous citations in
footnotes. Reference or bibliography is recommended using reference
management software, Endnote, or Mendeley in the American Sociological
Association Style.

The Journal of Society and Media

JUDUL ARTIKEL:
Judul adalah rumusan isi diskusi secara singkat, ringkas, jelas (maksimal 14
kata), dan informatif. Judul merupakan isu yang menarik untuk dikaji (tidak
seperti judul skripsi). Judul digunakan dalam sistem pencarian informasi penting.
Sangat dianjurkan untuk tidak menghindari istilah yang kurang lazim. Lokasi
penelitian tidak perlu disebutkan dalam judul, namun dijelaskan dalam bab
metode. Judul diketik dalam huruf biasa, kapital untuk setiap awal kata
(Capitalize Each Word) dan tebal. Sub anak judul ditulis dengan huruf non-
kapital kecuali pada huruf kata pertama. Letak di tengah menggunakan font
Times New Roman ukuran 13 pt, alignment jenis centre, satu sepasi.

mennggunakan singkatan. Singkatan hanya diperbolehkan jika memiliki

dengan referensi atau daftar pustaka.

PENDAHULUAN (Heading 1):

Pendahuluan (Introduction) terdiri dari latar belakang studi, masalah
penelitian, penelitian sebelumnya, dan kerangka teoritis.

METHOD (Heading 1):

Metode (Method) harus jelas dan padat, berisi langkah-langkah atau prosedur
sistematis yang ditempuh dalam penelitian. Hindari menggunakan pengertian-
pengertian atau referensi mengenai metode. (Font Times New Roman 12 pt.)

HASIL DAN PEMBAHASAN (Heading 1):

Hasil (result) dan Pembahasan (discussion) berisi hasil penelitian dan
diskusi, secara umum meliputi subtema artikel yang menjelaskan dan
mengungkapkan hasil penelitian, serta analisis antar bagiannya. (Font Times New
Roman 12 pt.)

KESIMPULAN (Heading 1):

Beberapa poin disimpulkan dari subjek yang dibahas dalam artikel tersebut.

Perihal lainnya:
a. Gambar
Penyajian gambar bisa dalam skala abu-abu (grayscale), atau hitam putih,
dan juga boleh menampilkan warna. Keterangan harus diberi nomor dalam jarak
satu spasi. Judul harus terdiri dari judul singkat (bukan pada gambar itu sendiri)
dan deskripsi ilustrasi. Perhatikan penulisan teks, ilustrasi tapi jelaskan,
seminimal mungkin menggunakan simbol dan singkatan. Huruf harus mudah
dibaca dengan jelas dan dalam ukuran yang proporsional. Angka harus memiliki

deskripsi singkat di bagian utama teks. Untuk tujuan tata letak, mohon berikan
angka resolusi tinggi masing-masing (≥300dpi) tambahan secara terpisah di
.tif/.jpg/.jpeg dalam folder tertentu selain naskahnya. Dan sebaliknya, tidak
menyebutkan posisi gambar/tabel missal: "Gambar di bawah" atau "tabel sebagai
berikut" karena posisi akan disusun ulang dalam proses tata letak. JANGAN
menaruh kotak di sekitar tulisan.

b. Tabel
Jumlah tabel dibuat secara berurutan sesuai dengan kemunculan dalam teks.
Tempatkan catatan kaki ke tabel dengan huruf kecil. Hindari aturan vertikal.
Berhati-hatilah dalam penggunaan tabel dan pastikan bahwa data yang disajikan
dalam tabel tidak menduplikat hasil yang dijelaskan di bagian lain artikel.

Kutipan
Penulisan kutipan yang lebih dari empat baris, letakkan kutipan di blok teks
bebas dan hilangkan tanda petik. Mulai kutipan pada baris baru, dengan
keseluruhan kutipan menjorok dari margin kiri. Hanya indent baris pertama dari
kuota oleh seperempat inci tambahan. Jika mengutip beberapa paragraf. Kutipan
harus ditulis setelah tanda baca tutup. Bila mengutip dua atau lebih paragraf,
gunakan format kutipan blok, bahkan jika bagian dari paragraf kurang dari empat
baris. Inden baris pertama setiap paragraf yang disertakan seperempat inci ekstra.
Contoh:
Beberapa waktu lalu, Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) mendapat peng-
aduan dari para perempuan anggota kepolisian dari Aceh yang tidak
diperbolehkan mengenakan jilbab saat melaksanakan tugas sebagai
seorang Polwan. Laporan tersebut ditanggapi MUI sebagai bentuk
pelanggaran Hak Asasi manusia (HAM) dalam dunia kerja. Pelarangan
penggunaan jilbab bagi polwan merupakan citra negatif kepolisian
sebagai instansi penegak hukum.
Pengaduan sama berasal dari sejumlah polwan yang bertugas di Polda
Jateng. MUI menjelaskan bahwa selbelumnya para polwan tersebut
sudah pernah menulis surat kepada Kapolri agar mendapat ijin
mengenakan jilbab, tetapi yidak dikabulkan. Bahwak setelah itu,
dikeluarkan edaran Kapolri yang menegaskan bahwa yang berseragam
Polri dengan mengenakan Jilbab hanya polwan yang bertugas di Polda
Nangro Aceh Darusalam (NAD) (republika.com).

Penulis harus memastikan bahwa setiap referensi dalam teks muncul dalam
daftar referensi dan sebaliknya. Wikipedia, blog pribadi, atau situs non ilmiah
tidak boleh digunakan. Semua catatan harus muncul sebagai kutipan dalam
kutipan anonim dalam catatan kaki. Referensi atau bibliografi direkomendasikan

menggunakan perangkat lunak manajemen referensi yaitu Endnote, atau
