Core Strength:-
With the striving efforts of Shri. Chandraji Koli, Adv. Shantaram
Vesavkar, Shri Namdeo Vesavkar and others, the Mumbai Prantiy
Machhimar Sahakari Sangh Ltd was formed in 1950. The Federation
started with fresh and dry fish wholesaling agency in Mumbai
market. After formation of separate Maharashtra state on 1 st May
1961, the federation was renamed as Maharashtra Rajya Machhimar
Sahakari Sangh Ltd. It was registered under Maharashtra State
Cooperative societies act, 1960 and there is an elected director
board as its management. Managing director is the chief executive of
MRMSSLtd.

MRMSSLtd is working with an objective of ensuring the total
development (economic, social and cultural) of fishermen
community through the implementation of various schemes aimed
at promoting fish production, procurement, processing and
marketing of fish and fishery products.
One of the major activity of MRMSSLtd is the commercial
activities and there are different units like
1) Ice & cold storage (100 tons per/day production capacity)
2) Diesel Pump supplying diesel & Oil to member fishermen boats in
subsidized rates through sanction quota of state government.
3) Audyogik Vibhag supplying fishnets, Gilnets, Nylon,Ropes & other
boat material used for fishing related.
4) Fresh fish section where members fresh fish selling in wholesale
market. In this Market both marine and fresh water fishes where
sold.
5) Ice Sale Dept where crushing ice selling to fishermen boats.

Competencies:
Our sangh is maintaining a very strong customer/members
relationship & frequent interaction with the customers and providing
quality service in time. MRMSSLTD create competition in open
market and compels with other private manufacturers to maintain
quality and there by indirectly provides benefits to fishermen.

Success Factors:-
1) MRMSSLTD honoured by “Sahakar Bhushan Award 2017-18”
for best successful achievement in cooperative through
Government of Maharashtra.
2) MRMSSLtd facilitated by “Star HSD Award” in program of
Fishery Confab for best seller in high speed diesel consecutive
two years 2017, 2018 organized by Indian Oil corporation Ltd.
3) MRMSSltd appreciated through award for valuable support and
commitment for sustainable Management of Marine Fisheries
on the occasion of 72nd foundation day of ICAR-CMFRI Mumbai.

4) COSFAD 2019 award for challenges and opportunities for
sustainable fisheries and aquaculture Development in
international conference of college of fisheries Ratnagiri.

Uniqueness or Innovation :-

Through sangh various active participation of members in fulfillment


of their all requirement provide quality service in time, marketing &
processing of their fish. Sangh undertake in consultation and
association with the respective district federation, if any, schemes for
improving economics, educational and cultural condition of
fishermen and with that view to organizes fishermen, their
cooperatives and other societies and to arrange for holding
conference/seminars of fishermen. For e.g. Blue Revolution schemes,
PMMSY schemes, Kisan credit card schemes etc.
Sangh also make arrangement for supply of marketing information to
member and member cooperatives.
Sangh also leading in various fishermen problems like Personate
fishing, light fishing, coastal projects, ONGC Surveys, Reservoir
leasing policy etc.

The Fedration look forward to take up activities such as:-


1) The federation has taken 100 acre land for shrimp farm on 30
years lease from government of Maharashtra near khatali
village dist palghar and aim to establish training Centre,
Loboratory, waiting room and office.
2) Establishing 100 tons capacity fish meal, fish process plant at
taloja dist. panvel Raigad.
3) Establishing divisional offices in Nagpur,Nashik,Pune and
Ratnagiri.
