Premiere Pro Advanced – Class Projects

Class Project 01 - Proxies & Media Browser

1. Delete our last project and proxies


2. Fresh Project
a. Tourism Ireland - Roadrising V2.prproj
3. Proxies
a. Using the media browser Ingest the footage using the following Proxy settings.
b. Files to bring in: Tourism Ireland > Audio + Footage + Graphics
c. Proxy setting
i. Apple Prores 422 (or something else you prefer)
ii. With text watermark ‘Proxy’
4. Editing
a. New Sequence: Tourism Ireland - Roadrising 30 seconds
b. Cut it down to no more than 30 seconds.
i. Import but don’t use ‘01 Tourism Z - Kelly Lacy.mp4’.
c. Add voice over
i. There are 2 readings of the voice over.
ii. You can cut and space the sections out if you want.
d. Add music
i. There are a couple to choose from in your exercise files or you can pick your own.
ii. Make sure this mixes nicely with the voice over.
5. Export using Proxies
6. Upload your video to either Behance, Vimeo or similar.
a. Share the link to your video on either the Assignments/Projects section.
b. Note: Don’t use Youtube as they don’t like duplicate content.

Class Project 02 - Matching Color

1. New Project
2. Practice
a. 02 Colour Match 03 - Interview 1.mp4
b. 02 Colour Match 03 - Interview 2.mp4
3. Pexels
a. Go to Pexels.com > Videos
b. Lucky number
c. Use a similar keyword to find another shot to match.
4. Match the color using Lumetri: Color Wheels & Match
5. Experiment with the color wheels, basic correction & HSL Secondary if you’re brave.
6. Take a screenshot and share on either the Assignments/Projects section.

Class Project 04 - Hue Saturation Curves

1. Go to Pexels.com > Videos > New


a. Choose anything from this first 20
2. Match the color using Lumetri > Curves Hue Saturation Curves
3. Change one specific colour.
4. Take a screenshot of the before & after then share on either the Assignments/Projects section.

Class Project 05 - Luma Waveform

1. Use your own file and/or:


a. 02 Colour Correction H.mp4
b. 01 Tourism B - Kelly Lacy.mp4
2. Use the Luma Waveform and either Curves or Basic > Tone to correct the brightness.
3. Take a screenshot of the before & after then share on either the Assignments/Projects section.

Class Project 06 - Vector Scope

1. Use your own file and/or:


a. 02 Colour Correction J - Free Videos.mp4
2. Using an opacity mask, mask out a small part of the white paper.
3. Using the Vector Scope Waveform adjust the temperature of the video clip.
4. Take a screenshot of the before & after then share on either the Assignments/Projects section.

Class Project 07 - Film Grade

1. Use your own file or something from Pexels.com


2. Using any of the techniques shown, add a film look, either hollywood, bollywood, indie.
3. Show the before and after by having your adjustment layer only partially over your clip.
4. Upload your video to either Behance, Vimeo or similar.
a. Share the link to your video on either the Assignments/Projects section.
b. Note: Don’t use Youtube as they don’t like duplicate content.

Class Project 08 - Track Matte

1. Use your own files or something from Pexels.com


2. Ideally find your own transition matte but you can use Matte 05.mov if you want.
3. Transition between at least 2 clips.
4. Optional
a. Add Music.
b. Let us know issues you ran into and how you overcame them (if you could).
5. Upload your video to either Behance, Vimeo or similar.

Class Project 09 - Morph Cut

1. Start with the practice file: Morph Cut 03.mp4


a. Then if you have footage of your own please experiment with that.
2. Use the Morph Cut effect.
a. Experiment with your cuts & length of the transition.
3. Let us know your experience with the effect. Tell us how you might have found the best results.
4. Upload your video to either Behance, Vimeo or similar.

Class Project 10 - Blur Number Plate

1. Practice with the file: Blur 03 - Rodnae Productions.mp4


a. Then use your own footage or video from Pexels.com
2. Using the gaussian blur, track and blur the numberplate or face or logo (depending on your footage).
3. Upload your video to either Behance, Vimeo or similar.

Class Project 11 - Time Remapping

5. Practice with the file: Slow Motion 04.mp4


a. Then use your own footage or video from Pexels.com
6. Share in the comments any troubles and solutions you found to your footage.

Class Project 12 - Multi Cam

1. Visit the Cinestudy website and find their Edit Challenge - Multicam
a. Or use your own footage if you have any.
2. Sync the multi cam using the audio feature in Premiere rather than ‘finding the clap’ in the waveform.
3. I want you to grade the footage in any way you want. Adding a distinctive style to the music video.
4. Upload your video to either Behance, Vimeo or similar.
a. Share the link to your video on either the Assignments/Projects section.
b. Make sure you use the tag #Cinestudy.
c. Use the credits listed on the website, either on screen or in the description.
d. Consider supporting the creators as they create these projects for free.

Class Project 13 - Sound

1. Use your own file or Sound > Rain.mp4


2. Try to remove the background rain noise.
a. You can use any technique you like. Not just the ones you’ve learnt in this class.
3. Have 2 versions on your timeline. One with the audio fix and one without.
a. Use some text to indicate the Original & Fixed versions.
4. Render your video with both versions so we can hear the comparison.
5. Let us know in your comments what techniques you used.
