Electronics troubleshooting guidelines for

T plate processors
This technical bulletin provides guideline for electronic troubleshooting for the T plate processors. The first part
of the document deals with general troubleshooting issues. The appendix includes diagrams and tables that
show the positions of connectors, LEDs, test points and fuses on the various boards found in the processor

Required tools and documents

• Digital voltmeter (DVM)
• Flat 2-mm screwdriver
• Wiring schematics diagram (in the E-box)

When starting the processor, the program does not advance after pressing the green
start button
If the message Press green Start button remains on the display screen after you press the green
Start button, perform the following actions:

• Check fuses F7 and F8 in the E-box.

• Check fuse F13 on the driver relay board.
• Check the cable (P58) from the green start button.

Preliminary checks and corrective actions

• In the E-box, tighten the small screws on the connectors (Figure 1) on the control (Figure 12) and
driver relay boards (Figure 14).
• Verify that all connectors are fully inserted.

Processor stops working and the Press green Start button message appears
If the processor stops working and the message Press green Start button remains on the display
screen after you press the green Start button, perform the following actions:

• Check that the two emergency stop buttons are fully released, and that there are no loose wires
leading to the emergency stop buttons
• Check the A1, A2, 13, and 14 connections, located on the K1 contactor

Figure 2. K1 contactor
• On the driver relay board (Figure 14), make sure there is a -12 VDC established at the J/P20 pin 1,
and +12 VDC established at the J/P20 pin 3
• Replace the driver relay board
• Replace the K1 contactor

• If necessary, replace the sensor.
• On the control board, check the relevant connectors (Figure 12 and Table 4).
• Check the connectors on the junction board, located on the right side, below the touch screen display
(Figure 4).

Operational failure checks and corrective actions

• On the MANUAL screen (2/3), (Figure 5), check whether all the power components (the solenoids,
pumps, and motors) are operating properly.

• If a solenoid, pump, or motor is not functioning, check the fuses in the E-box (Table 1) and on the
driver relay board (Figure 16), as well as the connectors on the driver relay board (Figure 14 and
Table 6).
• Check the voltage output on the driver relay board connectors (Figure 14). Use the light-emitting
diode (LED) on the driver relay board (Figure 15) to verify the activation by firmware (Table 7).

Communication errors

If the communication error occurs immediately after you have performed an In-System Programming (ISP)
procedure, repeat the ISP.

A communication problem between the display and control boards is indicated on the display as a:

• Communication alert
or
• ERROR7: Communications Error
When one of these messages appears, perform the following tasks:

• Check the ISP cable between the ISP1 and ISP2 connectors (Figure 6), and make sure that the
connectors have been properly inserted and are firmly in place. Make sure that the screws securing
the connectors are tight.

Figure 6. E-Box showing ISP cable between ISP1 and ISP2 connectors
• Check that connectors J/P8 and J/P9 on the control board (Figure 12) have been properly inserted
and are firmly in place
• Check that connector J/P3 on the display board (Figure 18) has been properly inserted and is firmly in
place
• In the E-box, check the wiring from the ISP1and ISP2 (Figure 6) receptacles to connector J/P9 on the
control board (Figure 12).
• Check the wiring from connector J/P8 on the control board (Figure 12) to connector J/P3 on the
display board (Figure 18).
• Verify that the replacement boards are the same version. (Communication errors may arise because
of software incompatibility.)

Rollers and developer brush roller do not move when plate is fed to the processor

The processor is in Online mode with the status Ready.

Caution: Make sure that the power at the main switch is turned off before removing the side panel or opening
the E-box on the processor.

• Check that both top covers are properly closed.

• Check that the A/M switch is set to Auto.
• Remove the left side panel, and check that all the wires are connected to both the front and back
interlock switches.
• Check that the interlock switch tabs (on both the front and back covers) are fully inserted into each
interlock switch.
• Check that the actuating button in each interlock switch is fully depressed when the top covers are
closed. If either of the interlock actuating buttons is not fully depressed by the interlock switch tab (on
the front or rear cover), adjust the height of the interlock switch on the side panel (Figure 7).

• Locate the J/P20 connector the driver relay board (Figure 14).
• Using a DVM, measure the voltage on the J/P20 connecter as follows:
• Turn off the processor at the Main switch.
• Disconnect connector J/P20 from the driver relay board.
• On the DVM, set the DVM control to the Diode position .
• Take the anode (red) connector on the DVM and touch the J/P20.4 pin and then take the cathode
(black) connector on the DVM and touch the J/P20.2 pin.
• A DVM reading of OL means that the diode D2 is disconnected or burned out.
• A DVM reading of 0 volts means that the diode D2 is shorted out.
• A DVM reading of approximately 0.52 volts means that the diode D2 is working properly.
