Medical Council of Canada exams
According to CAPER’s International Medical Graduate (IMG) Database, many IMGs write MCC exams as initial steps
toward medical practice in Canada. The three main exams are the Evaluating Exam (MCCEE) the Qualifying Exam
Part I (MCCQEI) and the Qualifying Exam Part II (MCCQEII).
In 2015, a total of 2,667
IMGs passed the MCCEE
and completed their
medical degrees in over
100 different countries.
The highest number of
these IMGs was from
Saudi Arabia (241),
Ireland (197) and Iran
(180).
IMGs who passed the MCCEE in 2015 represented 60% of all IMGs who passed any MCC exams in that year
(n=4464), the highest proportion for the period 2007 to 2015. The country with the most IMGs who passed the
MCCQEI (119) and the MCCQEII (63) in 2015 was Ireland.

The proportion of IMGs that have passed exams within two years of their medical degree has increased between
2011 and 2015 for the MCCEE (2.6%), MCCQEI (10.5%) and MCCQEII (9.8%).
