Lesson Plan for Understanding Society, Culture and Politics (Grade 12)

I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson the learners are expected to:
1. Identify the context, content, processes and consequences of socialization and enculturation.
2. Situates deviance in its cultural ang social contexts.
3. Promote the protection of human dignity, rights and the common good.

II. Content
A. Subject Matter: Becoming a Member of Society
B. Materials: Blackboard, Chalk, PowerPoint Presentation
C. References: Quarter 1, Module 3 Becoming a Member of Society, Understanding Culture, Society
and Politics textbook.
D. Value Formation: Protection of Human Dignity

III. Procedure
1. Review the past topic and lesson.
2. Give some activity that encourages social sharing in expressing social concern in the society.
3. Explain the differences of their responses and relate it to the differences when it comes to their
perspective which is affected by many sociological factors.
4. Discuss what Socialization is all about, the different view of sociologist on socialization,
Conceptualize Deviance and Social Control.
5. Ask students about their ideas.
6. Explain the concept of socialization based on the different theories and Explain the development
of the self as a product of socialization.

IV. Generalization
Ask the following:
1. What is socialization, enculturation and deviance?
2. Why is socialization an invisible yet a very formidable process that each member of society has to
experience and undergo?
3. Give an example Deviancy in the community

VI. Assignment:

Cut out or print a local news related to Human Rights/ In the news article identify Human rights
featured and critically explain how human rights exercised, violated, trespassed or denied?
