Purpose
CoaDATA 2001/4001 is a further development of CD2000/3000. It is an opto-mechanical coagulation analyzer
based on the turbodensitometrical measuring principle.
All routine coagulation tests can be run on this analyzer.

Instrument description

CoaDATA 2001/4001 is modularized.

The user communicates via display and enters all settings by the membrane keyboard.
The measuring channels are selected by the keys CH1 to CH4.Cuvettes are detected automatically.
The menu is selected by the < and > keys as well as the mode, Esc and Enter key.
Parameters are entered by the number keys.
The measuring channels are heated to 37,4°C in a thermal block. In this block there are 4 additional positions for
reagent bottles and 4 cuvette wells per channel.
In order to print the results a thermal printer is integrated into the instrument.
On the back side of the instrument is the socket for 115/230 V, 60/50 Hz power supply. Above the socket is the
switch for the power supply. I is switched on, O is switched off.
It is mounted in one module together with the voltage selector and the fuse holder.
On the back side of the instrument there is also a RS232 port for data communication with a check box or an
external PC.

8. Has the driver board been connected properly?

Make sure that the plugs of the driver board cable and measuring cell cables have been plugged in
properly.
Exchange the cables if necessary.

If the above measures have not been successful exchange the driver board first, then the first and second measuring
module and the main board.

Stirrer motor does not run

The following basic conditions must be fulfilled before checking the stirrer motor.

1. The instrument can be switched on as usual.

To check the error follow the steps below:

1. Select the „stirrer-motor-test“.function in the service mode

2. Put a GW 15 vial with a teflon stirrer 3 x 13 mm into the left reagent position
5ml Aqua-Bidest.

3. Check the stirring function as described under „stirrer-motor-test“ in the service menu.

4. Open the instrument. See chapter „Open the instrument“

5. Are the fuses of the power supply OK?

Exchange the defective fuse against a new one with the correct fuse value.

6. Does the power supply have the necessary voltage?

Measure at the output pin strap of the power supply unit. The pin assignment of the power supply can be
found in chapter „pin assignment“.
Exchange the power supply unit against a new one.
When exchanging the power supply unit make sure the correct voltage has been selected and the fuses
have the correct values.

7. Has the main board been connected properly?

Make sure that the plugs of the power cable have been plugged in correctly.
Exchange the power cable if necessary.

8. Is the main board supplied with the correct voltage from the power supply?
Measure at the input pin strap of the main board. The pin assignment of the power supply can be found in
chapter „pin assignment“.
Make sure that the plugs of the power cable have been plugged in correctly.
Exchange the power cable if necessary.

9. Demount the thermal block, see chapter „Demounting the thermal block“

10. Can the motor easily be turned manually?

Check if particles block the motor revolution.
Remove these particles if necessary.

11. Is the cable connection to the driver board OK?

Make sure that the plugs of the driver cable have been plugged in correctly.
Exchange the cable, if necessary.

12. Does the driver board detect the stirrer motor signals correctly?
Measure at the input pin strap of the driver board. The pin assignment of the driver board can be found in
chapter „pin assignment“.

If the above tests have not been successful exchange the driver board first and then the main board.

Liquids have been pipetted into the measuring channel

Follow the steps below to clean the measuring channel:

1. Open the instrument.

2. Demount the thermal block.

3. Demount the driver board.

4. Clean the measuring cells of the thermal block with alcohol. Remove even smallest dirt particles

5. Are the LEDs and the photo detectors of the driver board free of particles?
If they are dusty use a fluff-free cloth to clean them.
If left overs of liquid pipetted into the measuring channel soil the devices exchange the driver board.

6. Can the motor easily be turned manually?

Check if particles block the motor revolution.
Remove these particles if necessary.
If this is not possible exchange the driver board.

Instrument error messages

1. CHANNEL ERROR

These error messages show an error in a measuring channel

The measurement in this channel will be cancelled.

An error message will be printed.

1a Monitoring the revolutions

Cause: Deviation greater than 50 rpm of the required stirrer revolution value

Release: during the measurement with a delay of 3 s

Message:
The message will be displayed and printed.

Display:
"brk | moto"

Print-out:
"channel 1: break motor !"

1b Monitoring the light path

During a run the following categories will be monitored:

Measuring time: If the measuring time exceeds 600 sec,

an error message will be displayed „timeout“.

Thresholds: 1. If the thresholds are below 1 digit,

an error message will be displayed „bottom“.
2. If the thresholds are above 750 digit,
an error message will be displayed „top“.

Measuring value: If the measuring value is smaller than the

threshold value for that specific method for more
than 3 seconds an error message will be displayed „dark“

Test setup: If a strong disturbance occurs in the measuring

channel during the adjustment phase and the
adjustment cannot be executed
an error message will be displayed „drift“

Monitoring: The categories will be monitored after the end of lag time,
adjustment and learning time.

Message:
The message will be displayed and printed.

Example of displayed message:

"brk | bott"

Example of print-out:
"channel 1: break bottom"

Rev. C 7.15
Service Manual CoaDATA 2001
Service Manual CoaDATA 4001

2. FATAL ERRORS
Internal errors will be monitored continuously.
Hard- and software will be checked.

Message:
The message will be displayed and printed.

Display (scrolling):
"ERROR | xxx"

Print-out:
„ERROR: | xxx"

(xxx=specific note)

Every second a beeping signal can be heard at the same time.

Effect:
The instrument is blocked for measurements.

New start:
Only after a key stroke the instrument can be restarted.
If necessary the parameters can be set to Default.

Renewed error:
If a renewed error occurs while the first error is not yet settled,
the following text appears:
"recursive error".

Rev. C 7.16
Service Manual CoaDATA 2001
Service Manual CoaDATA 4001

3. MISCELLANEOUS ERRORS
3a. Check sum errors

While parameters are read and wrote the check sum in the EEPROM will be monitored.

Message:
The error message will be displayed only.

Display (scrolling):
"parameter-error! press any key ... "

Effect:
The instrument will not work.

Possible cause:
During the display „reading parameter“ or „writing parameter“ the instrument had been switched off
or the voltage alternated.

Trouble shooting:
Install the parameters of the instrument
