Service Manual 2-/4-Channel
Model CD05

Purpose

The 2-/4-Channel Analyzer Model CD05 is a further development of known 2-/4-Channel Model CD05.
This instrument is an opto-mechanical coagulation analyzer based on the turbodensitometrical
measuring principle. All routine coagulation tests can be run on this analyzer.

Instrument description

The 2-/4-Channel Analyzer is high integrated.

The user communicates via display and enters all settings by the membrane keypad.
The measuring channels are selected by the keys CH1 to CH2 / CH1 to CH4.
Cuvettes are detected automatically.
The menu is selected by the < and > keys as well as the mode, Esc and Enter key.
Parameters are entered by the number keys.
The measuring channels are heated to 37,4°C in a thermal block.
In this block there are 4 additional positions for reagent bottles and 4 cuvette wells per channel.
In order to print the results a thermal printer is integrated into the instrument.
On the back side of the instrument is the socket for 115/230 V, 60/50 Hz power supply. Above the
socket is the switch for the power supply. I is switched on, O is switched off.
It is mounted in one module together with the voltage selector and the fuse holder.
On the back side there is one RS232 port for data communication with a check box, an external PC or
an external printer with RS232 interface. Also on the back side there is one USB-B port for data
communication with an external PC
On the front side there are one SD-CARD reader for softwareupdates and a ChipCARD reader for
loading cuvette balances and loading / saving test parameters.

UTILITIES menu What for?

The user mode in the two and four channel analyzer has several functions which can be accessed by
the user as well as the service technician. This is the utilities menu.

Here the instrument can be adapted to the individual needs and the instrument parameters can be
printed.

With a security code the utilities menu can be protected against unauthorized access.

Each operating software has routine standards installed on the analyzer. Depending on the installed
software version the parameters of the analyzer can be set.
2
See also Operators Manual.

The analyzer can be set to different language modules. At this time an English and German module
are integrated in the software. So the UTILITIES functions can look different.

The following descriptions will only follow in English language setup.

Service check

Introduction:

The two and four channel analyzers are analytical systems which needs only less service and
maintenance actions.

So the following checklist will give suggested preventive checks for a proper function.

According the national requirements we suggest to do a service check once a year / every two years.

Mixer spinning

Introduction:

For a save function a proper function of the mixer motor and the mixer is required.

Check procedure:

Prepare a new cuvette with 200µl distilled

water. **1)

Make sure that a new mixer is inside.

Make sure that there are no air bubbles

inside.

Start analyzer in service mode

Select < mixer-test >

Start motor with 200 rpm

Put prepared cuvette into measuring

channel.

Make a visual check:

does the mixer spin in the center of the

cuvette

does the spinning mixer seems to be a

star like 

in case it seems to be a triangle

like 
then check or replace the magnet / mixer
motor unit.

**1) It is required to use a new cuvette with a new mixer to get a objective visual picture of the
spinning mixer.

Preparation:

For preparation prefill a defined cuvette

position (1) of incubation block ¾ with
distilled water.

Put the distilled water direct into the block.

1 Do NOT use any cuvette therefore.

1. Wait until the temperature has stabilized to 37.4 on the internal display.
2. Read the actual temperature of the thermal block from the digital multimeter and enter
via the keyboard numbers.
It will be displayed in the external field automatically.
The decimal point can be entered by pressing the „>„ key.
Press Enter to confirm. The calibration value will be set in the analyzer
automatically and will be displayed in the internal line.
3. Wait again until the temperature has stabilized to 37,4 in the internal line.

The displayed ntc value will show you whether the instrument heats up or cools off in
order to reach 37,4°C.
Rising values mean 'cool off', falling values mean 'heat'.

4. If the value in the internal line has stabilized to 37,4 it must be compared to the
digital multimeter. If the values deviate repeat this procedure from item 2above.
If both values are identical finish calibration and save by pressing the ESC key.

For detailed procedure see flow chart next page.

1. Formatting SD-Card:

For use at the analyzer it is important to prepare the SD-Card at first.

Make sure that the file system is FAT .
Other filesystems as FAT16, FAT32, NTFS and others will not be accepted by the analyzer.

To format a SD-Card we suggest to use an digital photo camera.

SD-Cards formated under Windows or Linux operating systems will not be accepted by the analyzer.

In case of strong fragmentation of the card it may possible that te analyzer will suddenly not accept
the the card anymore. In this case the card needed to format by a digital photo camera.
Defragmentation or formatting with Windows or Linux operating systems not be accepted by the

Parameter Error

Introduction:

The parameter setup of the analyzer is stored in an internal EEPROM.

The system is checking the parameters with checksum. In case of a checksum error the analyzer will

Printer connection

Introduction:

The two and four channel analyzer can be

connected to an external serial thermal
printer.

We suggest to use a Seiko Epson DPU-

414 thermal printer.

In some countries the DPU 414 Printer and

it´s power supply have to be ordered
separately.

Contact your local distributor for details.

To run the DPU-414 printer with a

2- or 4- Channel Analyzer Model CD05
a special printer cable will be needed.

Please refer to chapter 4.

9.67
Service Manual 2-/4-Channel

Printer connection contd.

Introduction:

Before using the printer with the analyzer

the serial interface of the printer has to be
configurated.

Print a list of current setting:

Slide the power switch to ON while pressing the ON/OFFLINE/PAPER END button.
Red and green lamps blink alternately.
Release the button after a list of current settings starts printing out.

LIS connection

Introduction:

The two and four channel analyzer are

supporting no direct LIS interface.

In case a LIS communication is needed,

the result data could sent out by the serial
printer interface to a computer instead to
a printer.

9.73
Service Manual 2-/4-Channel
Model CD05

LIS connection contd.

Preparation:

Connect the analyzer with a Computer

system by using the RS232 interface and
a data cable.

Please refer to chapter 4.

The interface parameters of the analyzer

are fixed:

9600 baud
8 bit
no parity
1 stop bit
no handshake

=> 9600, 8, N, 1

Enable the dataoutput at the analyzer at

first.

The analyzer will send out the data in

ASCII format after the measurement
result appeared once a time.

The LIS system has to pick up this data

by interrupt or polling.
