SERVICE BULLETIN CATEGORY: Cooling System IDENT NO. 4-2482 SUPERSEDES: NEW DATE: September 30, 1986 SUMMARY: Proper seating of the fan mounting capscrews is essential for safe operation of all engines. Capscrews must have a um thread engagement of at least 1.5 es the nominal thread (for instance, 1/2” for a 5/16” capscrew) and must not bottom out in the fan mounting hole threads. Any less thread engagement could result in a loosening of the screws and cause the fan to fly off, possibly causing property damage or personal injuries. INFORMATION & To assure proper fan mounting, one of the following methods should be INSTRUCTIONS: used (methods in order of Waukesha Engine preference) 1. A bottoming tap can be used on existing holes for a deeper thread. 2. Heavy washers can be used under each capscrew head to replace the existing washers, Use similar washers under each capscrew to avoid unbalancing the assembly. 3. A special length capscrew can be used in the fan mounting holes. Donot, under any circumstances, bottom out the capscrewsin the fan mounting holes. NOTE Capscrews of minimum of Grade 5 hardness are required on all engines with the exception of the F817G which requires Grade 8
