Executive summary

Trisha Singh , CEO of Gram Sevak Sangh (GSS) , an organisation which works in tribal areas
on income generation project and tribal's rights has been given a new project of development of
Kalanidhi block. She has constituted a team for this project Kalanidhi Spearhead Team (KSHT)
and has chosen Munish as its head. Apart from Munish other members in team are Munjal,
Sakharam , Rajesh , Laljibhai and Kamala. Each of them has expertise in different fields.
Munjal has been an irrigation engineer with 22 years of work experience. He is full of ideas . He
either dominated the discussion or withdraw entirely. He is also known to withhold important
information from group.
Sakharam is youngest of all member soon after completing HSC exam he joined GSS and
completed his graduation along with his work. He is know as a hard core rural developer. He
can establish quick rapport with villagers and understand grassroot dynamics But he doesn't
speak much . Munish had thought that the team atmosphere might overawe him because of his
lack of articulation and education background.
Rajesh has worked as junior officer in Agriculture marketing corporation (AMC) before joining
GSS. He shifted to GSS because of stifling work environment in AMC. He has many bright
ideas related to marketing of rural produce. He has an eye for detail and has found that because
of lack of value addition rural producer don't get fair share of deal and thus he wishes to change
this.
Laljibhai is an agriculture graduate. He was picked up by Trisha through campus placement.
Laljibhai's major expertise is in crop production and he has helped farmers in enhancing crop
production. He is credited for mediating between lab and field.
Kamala Rao who is in late 30s hold master's degree in home science and is known to be an
expert in gender issues. She is considered a firebrand worker with some rough edges.

In a meeting about three months after the five members joined. Sakharam , Kamala , Laljibhai
and Rajesh planned to present their experience and provide suggestions for project
implementation. It started with Sakharam sharing his experience which went pretty well . It was
followed by Kamala sharing the problem of gender inequity and the need of dealing with gender
disparity. She talked about the irrigation groups where women didn't had important role to play.

Soon after this Rajesh shared his experience and talked about the need of targeting middle
class consumer and market rural products. But this idea of marketing was not liked by Munjal
which offended Rajesh and he left the meeting. Everyone got upset by this event and they also
left.
