7. Factorise

9. Solve using elimination by substitution
(x+7)/5 – (2x – y)/4 = (3y – 5) and (4x-3)/6 + (5y-7)/2 = (18 – 5x)

1. Solve 30/(x+y) + 44/(x+y) = 10 and 40/(x-y) + 55/(x+y) = 13


2. i) A fraction becomes ½ if 5 is subtracted from its numerator and 3 is
subtracted from its denominator. If the denominator of the fraction is 5
more than its numerator. Find the fraction.
ii) The ten’s digit of a two digit number is three times the unit digit.
The sum of the number and the unit digit is 32. Find the number.
3. A farmer sold a calf and a cow for Rs 7600 thereby making a profit of 25
percent on the calf and 10 percent on the cow. By selling them for Rs
7675; he would have realised a profit of 10% on the calf and 25% on the
cow, Find the cost price of both.
4. i) The age of a man is twice the sum of the ages of his 2 children, after 20
years; his age will be equal to the sum of the ages of his children at that
given time. Find the present age of the man.
ii ) Pooja and ritu can do a piece of work in 17 and 1/7 days. If one day
work of pooja be ¾ of one day work of Ritu, find in how many days each
will do the work alone.
