Romance Short Story

So, May I Get Your Number, Sweetie?

This morning the weather was a bit cloudy. The black clouds covered it signalled that it was
going to rain soon. Actually, I still wanted to linger in bed, but I had to go to my coffee shop
soon. Yeah, I was a young entrepreneur currently managing my own coffee shop as the
beginning of my business development. My coffee shop was not too big, but comfortable to be
used as a place to relax or hang out with friends. Although relatively new, my coffee shop
already has quite a number of customers. Initially I managed it myself, but now I have several
employees working in my coffee shop.
On a road with heavy traffic, I saw a woman helping an old woman to cross. Then, she
gave her umbrella to the old woman. Yet as far as I was concerned, she did not even know who
the old woman was. Such a truly kind woman! I wish I could meet her soon. Soon after, there
was a heavy rain. Fortunately, I arrived at the coffee shop before it began to rain. The coffee
shop is quite busy today. Not much different from the previous days. I chatted with the
employee to ask how the coffee shop was doing before I arrived. I occasionally assisted with
other tasks as well, including brewing coffee for customers or experimented to create a new
menu.
I opened my laptop to check my next business plan. I have made plans to open a new
branch in another location that I can still monitor. As far as I can see, customers have high
interest in this coffee shop. Not infrequently there are other customers from other regions who
ask me to immediately open a branch in their area. What a great business start. Then I looked
over at doorbell when it rang. It turned out that the pleasant woman I saw on the road was the
new customer. An exquisite coincidence! She sat while checking her cell phone for a moment
before finally ordering. The first thing that crossed my mind was that I would serve her order
and make her a good coffee.
The woman looked to be in her early-20s with a petite stature and long black hair that
fell to her waist. She has very beautiful eyes, with hazel eyeballs and naturally curly eyelashes.
She smiled and thanked me when I delivered her order. The smile on her face was no less
beautiful than the kindness of her heart. My hear was beating. I want to talk to her and get to
know her, but I was not sure how to begin.
She came at me as I was still observing her, catching me off guard. She actually wanted
to order another coffee and a snack. She placed an order for chicken karage as a snack and an
iced coffee with hazelnut milk. Shortly after delivering the order back, I thought of a way to
get acquainted with her. I was not sure she would believe it, but it can't hurt to try right?
Although the method may be a bit tacky, but I still have to try.
She looked so busy doing the work in front of her laptop. From her appearance, she
seemed to be a student currently studying at a university. But I was not too sure about that
either. Then I went back to my next business plan. I sat not far from the cashier and in a position
that she could still see. Before long, she finished her work and walked to the cashier's desk to
make payment. I immediately rushed to the cashier because this is my mission to get acquainted
with her. She made the payment in cash, but I told her that there was currently no change. She
looked like she did not believe my words. Then I gave her a solution which would be to give
her change via e-money such as Shopee Pay, Dana, etc. She chuckled, as if realizing my
intentions. In the end she agreed with the solution I gave, then I said, "so, may I get your
number, sweetie?". Yep, my mission was successful.
