 Introduction

In many of the western countries in higher education

classroom assessment and public examination become privatized and

because of this there are innovations in the process of assessment.

 Commercialization in assessment there might be some

possibility for poor quality in assessment.

1. Commercialization of assessment

➢ Privatization of educational system brings the commercialization of

assessment of learning in the educational system

➢ Commercialization of assessment aims at profiteering from the

educational system.
2. Poor test quality

 Conducting test in the classroom for assessing students learning is an important classroom

activity

 Preparation of question items by the private companies may not be good quality
The quality of question paper may be poor in quality due to following reasons

a. Validity of question item

b. Reliability of question
c. Standardization of question items
d. Test items in teacher made test
3. Domain Dependency

 The assessment of students learning should be made to assess in cognitive , affective and
psychomotor domain. Hence the learning experience of students depends on

System issues are those issues that depend on the assessment system followed in our
educational institutions. The assessment system given below it may cause problems in the
measurement and system issues.

1. Problems related the written examination system.

3. Problems related to performance testing system.

Problems related the written examination system

 Written examination may be conducted using question papers that may not have the

qualities such as validity, reliability and practicability and this problem may cause

inaccuracy in the measurement and the assessment may not be correct.

2. Problems related to evaluation Rubrics

an evaluation rubric for valuing answer sheet of tests, assignments or performance should be

openly discussed with other teachers and students before making any evaluation and the

evaluation is done without any transparency it may cause problems if the following wrong

rubric system.

 The performance of students such as demonstrating an experimental procedure, operating

a musical instruction, performance of physical activities, etc. one to be tested and given

marks for assessing them
