2. Introduction
Environment is the surrounding community where living and non-living things stay together
with a close bonding among themselves. Preservation of the environment has become the
primary concern of today’s world. For this basic purpose, many steps have been taken and
going in parallel with sustainable development.
EPT (Environmental Parameter Testing) is essential part for any types of industries to assess
the emersion effects of the released substance on the surrounding community. On the basis of
test result, initial measures can be taken to mitigate their adverse effects when they exceed
national or international standards.
Noise level, light intensity, temperature, humidity, air quality etc. are some important
parameters of environment. Those parameters are tested and the extracted data is presented in
this report for its henceforth use.
2.1. Noise
Physically, there is no difference between noise and sound. Sound is a sensory perception and
noise corresponds to undesired sound. In extension, noise is any unwarranted disturbance
within a useful frequency band. Noise is present in every human activity, and when assessing
its impact on human well-being, it is usually classified either as occupational noise (i.e. noise
in the workplace), or as environmental noise, which includes noise in all other settings whether
at the community, residential, or domestic level (e.g. traffic, playgrounds, sports, music). Noise
pollution, also known as environmental noise, is the propagation of noise with harmful impact
on the activity of human or animal life. The source of outdoor noise worldwide is mainly caused
by machines, transport and transportation systems. According to the World Health
Organization (WHO), generally 60 dB sound can make a man deaf temporarily and 100 dB
sound can cause complete deafness. OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)
has established permissible noise exposure limits to help avoiding the standard threshold shifts
in working. If the noise level exceeds 85 dB on a time-weighted average, a hearing conservation
program is required.
Effect of noise in Human Perspective: Some demerits of noise balance distortion are –
 Hearing loss
 Auditory disorder i.e. Tinnitus
 Cardiovascular effects i.e. Major or Minor Heart Attack
 Psychological effects i.e. Annoyance, Stress etc.

Remarks: We measured the level of noise at all work places of the factory and level of noise
is compared with ECR 1997, Schedule 4, BLR - Rule 68(1) and OSHA (90 dBA) for indoor
work place. The satisfactory results of noise have been found at all work places of the factory.
The level of noise in indoor work place was lower than 75 dB.

5. Conclusion
Noise Level Assessment has been carried out to evaluate the surrounding noise condition of
Libas Textiles Ltd. with highest accuracy and sincerity. Company’s production greatly
affected by its management, workers efficiency, its environment etc. To ensure working
environment, conducting Noise Level Assessment with regular interval is essential and NTCL
is appointed by the Libas Textiles Ltd. managerial body to perform Noise Level Assessment.
The overall condition of this test carried out is satisfactory and justify the working environment
is good.
