LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET 1(Q3 M1)

RECOMBINANT DNA
Ryah Lyn Revale 11-Stem Pasteur

ACTIVITIES
A. Pre Test: Try This!
C 1.These are living organisms whose genetic
material has been artificially manipulated in a
laboratory through genetic engineering.
E 2. An individual's observable physical traits such as
height and hair color.
D 3. It consists of molecules of DNA joined together
from different species and is inserted into a host
organism.
A 4. Breeding of distantly related species to produce
new or modified organisms.
B 5. An organism's complete set of genes.
B. Activity 1: Do This!
A.
I want to change my physical features since I have
gained a lot of weight in the last few days.

B.
I want to change my physical features to reduce
myself to any health conditions and also help
myself to feel better: mentally and physically.

c.
Scientists are modifying organisms such as
animals and plants in order to increase the
nature of animals and plants.
Animals and plants produce food for humans, so
modifying species such as animals and plants
supports agriculture.
It increases nutritional composition and food
safety while also offering benefits to both farmers
and consumers.
D. Activity 2: Apply What you Have
Learned!

Both Recombinant DNA and Classical breeding

support in the enhancement of organisms such as
animals and plants, but Recombinant is preferable
than Classical since Classical breeding can only be
accomplished if an organism is distantly related
species to generate an organism with desirable traits,
while Recombinant DNA applies to combining
together the DNA molecules of two distinct species
that are injected into host organism to generate new
genetic combinations that will greatly benefit various
industries such as medicine and agriculture

IV. Assess What you Have Learned!

1-2
Classical breeding is associated with the mating
of organisms with desirable characteristics, as well
as the use of deliberate interbreeding of closely
related species or crossbreeding of distantly
related species to generate organisms with
desirable traits.
While Recombinant DNA Technology is the
joining of DNA molecules from two distinct
organisms to create new genetic combinations. It
has also enabled researchers to isolate one gene or
any other component of DNA, allowing them to
examine its transcripts.

11-12
Yes, the use of recombinant DNA technology is
significant because it helps various industries,
such as agriculture, in improving the quality of
foods at a low cost while also improving their
nutrition. For example, delayed ripening helps
producers who supply to distant regions to
survive the fruit for a longer period of time.It can
be applied in real life. For example, my mother
and father are the production; they care for me
and teach me lessons that will help me in the
future, yet I, as a child, want to prolong the period
when I become an adult because I am not yet
ready to be completely ripe fruit; I want a longer
transport time before I become an adult, but fruits
do not remain unripe forever. There will come a
moment when they will need to be completely
ripened fruit in order to help the production,
which is my parents
