Whoever thought for the first time there could be an universal library would be pleased

to find a million billion books held on the internet servers. Today masters like Borges,
Ende or Asimov would find their dream come true.

And apart from a million billion books there is no silence in The Library. Each time more
voices gather together on the net like different streams of a river which shape the voices
of a choral novel, of a choral world. Not only every work ever written or filmed, but also
those voices of usual people studying, thinking, and talking their opinions out loud, so
that we can know what others thought about the last piece of news and share points of
view.

The other part of a worldwide net is the instant communication between sender and
receiver. A good point is made when it comes to urgent tasks or news. There is no
doubt that social technology is extremely useful in the current days, however, it would
feel weird to everyone to talk to their boss on their phone while sunbathing in Florida.
Didn’t we go on holidays to ‘disconnect’?

The access to information is the vivid picture of the freedom our ancestors dreamed.
Freedom to learn, to speak, to know. Few are the hard facts, but there is so much said
about them available that we can know by contrasting, rich with poor, past with present.
All internet users have power; if used well, they will flow into the river and eventually
reach future ports: the river song will go on forever.
