3. In a geometric sequence, the first term is a = 250 and the common ratio is

4. Given the following geometric sequence: 125, − 25, 5, − 1, ... .

a) Determine the 8th term ( T8 ) of the geometric sequence.

b) Determine the sum of the first 4 terms ( S 4 ) of the geometric sequence.

5. John and Karen each start a monthly saving scheme. John saves $50 in the
first month and saves $100 in every subsequent month. Karen saves $100 in
the first month and saves $90 in every subsequent month. What is the number
of months required for them to have the same amount of savings?
