Language is one of the identities of our country so it is very important that it is

preserved and loved by every citizen living here. Along with the development of
technology, our government in collaboration with the Department of Education is
trying to keep alive and fervent our love for our own language, the “Filipino language”
so every year we celebrate Language Month every August as a tribute as well to the
Father of the National Language, Manuel L. Quezon.

Last August 31, 2021, Mina De Oro Catholic School celebrated Buwan ng
Wika with the theme “Filipino at mga Wikang Katutubo sa Dekolonisasyon ng Pag-
iisip ng mga Pilipino” to showcase cultural and civic awareness as part of National
Identity which one of the school’s aspirations featuring unique Filipino Costumes and
singing competition hosted by selected students.
The program began with a prayer led by Ms. Kimberly Rose I. Robles,
followed by the National Anthem led by Ms. Shaine Maiko G. Marigocio. This was
followed by the Introductory Speech by Mr. Christian G. Latayan in gratitude to all
the students and teachers who participated in the celebration.

Each video of the participants was watched and supported by each teacher at
the same time, the videos submitted was judged by the selected jurors --- Mrs. Vina
Marie L. Masilang, Mrs. Novie Rose L. Siena, Mrs. Sheridan D. Dimaaano and Mrs.
Marivic S. Narciso.

In the aggregate points from the jurors the following are the winner for:
Run-way Contest
 1st Place Ms. Jozel Margarette Nabing from Grade 12
 2nd Place Ms. Leobelle Peradilla from Grade 10
 3rd Place Bb. Jade D. Montemar from Grade 11
Singing Contest
 1st Place Ms. Kriesha F. Artillaga from Grade 11
 2nd Place Ms. Nicca Mhae A. Lopez from Grade 12
 3rd Place Ms. Yancey M. Rayos from Grade 9

Even in the simple celebration, everyone felt the unity brought by our
language. Despite of pandemic, celebration of Buwan Wika 2021 ended happily with
a prayer led by Mr. Kenn Darrel Gutierrez.
