HALL: 17 STAND: 320
Advanced Grinding Solutions (AGS) has
booked one of its biggest ever stands of 100
sqm at the forthcoming Mach show with all
of the machines receiving UK debuts on their
stand 320 in hall 17. None of these machines
have been exhibited here before and
therefore many UK engineers will be getting
their first opportunity to see this range of
advanced grinding and finishing machinery;
the widest range on display at Mach.
AGS is showing the new Rollomatic
660XW GrindSmart multi-axis tool grinding
machine with this being the first machine of
several sold into the UK having been
purchased by a leading UK cutting tool
manufacturer.
The unique hybrid design of this latest
Rollomatic machine combines, for the first
time, the power and performance of a blank
prep cylindrical grinder with the flexibility of
a multi axis tool grinder to allow for all
machining operations to be carried in one
single automatic operation on the same
machine and in one clamping. Therefore,
for the very first-time cutting tools may
be machined complete in a highly
efficient single

grinding process. The use of this technology
also brings dramatic gains in production
efficiency for tool manufacturers and the
savings made are enormous because lengthy
set ups on multiple machines are avoided all
together, and the handling and storage of
partly finished tools between machines is
also negated completely. Typical production
efficiency from the traditional multi
machine production method for standard
end mills is in the region of 11%
and this is increased to some
82% on the
Rollomatic 660XW machine. There are also
large savings in manpower as the number of
different machine types needed is greatly
reduced. This is a totally new design of
grinding machine that despite combining all
necessary grinding operations actually has a
smaller footprint than standard tool grinding
machines that do not have a true cylindrical
grinding capability. Like all Rollomatics it is
also an extremely accurate machine that is
easily capable of holding tight tolerances of
just 2um on tool runout across large batches
of tools and as with all Rollomatic grinding
machines comes with the industry leading 3
years unlimited hours parts and labour
warranty.
Also on display for the first time in the UK
is the latest Tschudin Cube centerless
grinding machine. The Tschudin Cube
machine benefits from a highly radical
design that sets it apart from all other
centerless grinding machines as was
acknowledged by it winning the prestigious
Red Dot Design Award.
The Tschudin Cube machine enables
users to achieve significant productivity
gains and the machines particularly quick
and flexible changeover times help to
minimise machine downtime. What sets the
Cube machine apart in particular is its very
small size and radical open design for easy
access. Users only need access to the rear of
the machine to perform maintenance and
servicing tasks, which means that several
machines can be positioned together without
any gaps. The grinder can be manually
loaded in a very safe and ergonomic way
outside of the grinding zone. The Cube uses
Tschudins patented W-axis which has the
workrest blade mounted onto its own CNC
axis that allows for parts to be loaded to it
outside of the grinding area making loading
efficient, fast, and very safe. Traditional
centerless grinding machines require parts to

be loaded to a fixed work-rest blade that sits
inside of the machine between the grinding
wheel and control wheel making loading
difficult, more expensive, and sometimes
unsafe. This also makes changeovers more
complex and therefore lengthier. The
Tschudin machine overcomes all of these
issues and claims to be the world easiest and
fastest centerless grinding machine to set-up
as the grinding and control wheel can be
changed in only around 6 minutes. AGS has
sold this highly advanced Tschudin grinding
machine to Hydraulic Projects Ltd of
Dawlish; a specialist manufacturer of very
high precision hydraulic control valves and
pumps. This is part of a large investment in
new machinery as Hy-Pro, that were
founded in 1966, and is still a family-owned
company, looks to expand further and to
increase its manufacturing capabilities at its
base in Devon.
Receiving its UK debut, and exhibiting
here for the first time ever, is Comat with
their C-120 filtration system. Comat
Superfiltration systems are engineered to
filter neat cutting oil to 2-3 microns (with a
classification NAS 1638 – ISO 4406 better
than new oil), whilst constantly maintaining

a stable temperature (+/- 0.2 degrees),
without compromising filtration or flow
rates so to ensure maximum consistency over
time. Comat Superfiltration systems
minimize the running costs to obtain the
lowest cost per liter of oil filtered. The C120 is
the latest generation of compact
Superfiltration systems designed to manage
a single machine tool, and is able to filter any
type of contaminant (hard metal, high speed
steel, medical steel, ceramic, brass) and to
guarantee intelligent performance including
energy saving and process optimization by
remote monitoring from Comat’s
headquarters near Milan to ensure systems
are always delivery peak performance.
FLP (Fine Grinding, Lapping and
Polishing Machines) are showing their new
FLP380 single sided lapping machine. The
broad range of FLP machines also include
twin wheel - double sided CNC Lapping /
fine grinding Machines and visitors to the
AGS stand are invited to attend to discuss
their requirements for the face grinding of
components.
FLP Double Disc or twin wheel machines
have 7 machines in the range offering a
working disc diameter of between 540 and
1,300mm. These can all be offered with full
automation via linear or robotic solutions,
and weigh between 7 and 16 tons. These
advanced machines are offered as high-
precision versions with granite machine beds
and the latest machine controls, drives and
measurement technology. FLPs machines are
in use across many branches of engineering
including automotive, aerospace, bearings,
optics and ceramics. FLP machines ensure
that components are produced to the closest
possible tolerances and at the highest
production rates. Operator friendly simple
machine operation is ensured as is the lowest
cost per machined component.
Specialists from Krebs & Riedel will be
present on the AGS stand to discuss all
grinding applications and best use of their
range of internal and external grinding
wheels. Krebs & Riedel manufacture high
quality conventional, diamond and CBN
abrasives and are constantly introducing
new types of wheels with improved grain
structures and novel bonding systems that
enhance grinding wheel quality and optimise
performance. Companies involved in
grinding are invited to meet the Krebs &
Riedel specialists and to discuss their
grinding issues and aims to improve their
grinding processes. Apart from offering high
stock removal rates to improve cycle times,
combined with more consistent part quality
by avoiding micro-cracks in the surface of
sensitive parts, another large benefit of using
Krebs wheels lies in large cost savings made
possible by reducing wheel dressing
requirements. This has the three major
advantages of lower wheel waste due to less
dressing, faster cycle times as wheels can be
kept grinding longer in between dressing
them, and also a reduced spend on expensive
diamond rollers. Krebs and Riedel are
developing new wheels all the time and
those are added to the existing collection of
over 60,000 different wheel types that are
available from them.

Kerf Developments will be returning to the
UK’s showpiece manufacturing event with a
multitude of impressive new technologies.

New machines, easy controls and a focus on
environmentally friendly manufacturing are
the headline-makers for Yamazaki Mazak at
MACH 2022.
Mazak will exhibit a total of nine
machines and three automation systems, that
will include the UK trade show debut of
Mazak’s new entry-level vertical machining
centre, the VCE-600. The VCE is a high-
specification machine available at a
competitive price, that features a large Y-axis
stroke offering maximum space for
workpieces and fixturing.
A further entry-level UK machine is the
QTE-300 MSY SG, a compact turning centre
capable of high productivity that has been
designed to fit into even the smallest
machine shop. The QTE has a generous
swing diameter of 695 mm and is equipped
with milling capability, a Y-axis and a second
spindle.
Mazak is also adding to its range of high-
performance machines with the new VCN-
700 vertical machining centre, the first of a
range of performance-line machines that

capability of performing dynamic milling

The Oldham based GM Group will make its
MACH debut appearance with machine tools
that will ‘wow’ the crowds at the UK’s
showpiece manufacturing event. Since
becoming the sole UK and Republic of Ireland
agent for the Victor range in 2020, the GM
Group has enjoyed phenomenal growth with
the brand and this can be seen at the company’s
new facility set to open this Spring. At MACH,
on Stand 619 in Hall 19 visitors can witness
exactly why the build quality and flexibility of
the Victor range stands above its rivals.
MACH attendees can see exactly why the
Victor machines are proving so popular with
manufacturers in all industry sectors. The GM
Group will introduce the Victor Vturn-
A20YCM and the Vturn-S26/60CM single
spindle turning centres as well as the compact
Vcenter-P76 machining centre. The Victor range
is extremely diverse and has powerful solutions
to cater for all industry sectors with everything
from small to large machine tools with simple
or complex machining solutions that can be
tailored to the exact needs of the user. The
machines on show at MACH will provide just a
snapshot of what is possible with this industry
leading brand.

with or without parting, is transferred with the
new transfer job. NC output from the main and
opposite sides and component transfer is
realised in one end-to-end NC program with a
machine model and a post-processor. DMG
MORI CTX machines with a Siemens control are
supported with this function in release 2022.1

With automation being a buzzword in
manufacturing, OPEN MIND will also be
showcasing its automated program generation
at MACH 2022 with the hyperMILL®
AUTOMATION Center. The hyperMILL®
AUTOMATION Center allows users to
automate the job list creation process as well as
the selection and positioning of clamping
devices. Furthermore, a uniform process can be
defined for all programmers.
The AUTOMATION Center solution
The turning portfolio from Victor has it all.
To demonstrate the uncompromising levels of
rigidity and stability that deliver class leading
precision, flexibility and productivity; the GM
Group will highlight the benefits of the compact
Vturn A20-YCM single spindle turning centre
with its Y-axis milling capability and an 8-inch
chuck with a swing over bed of 700mm whilst a
52mm diameter bar can pass through the
headstock for barfeeding applications. The
machine provides X-axis travel of 150+35mm
with 600mm in the Z-axis whilst the Y-axis
driven tooling unit can traverse +/-45mm.
Within this spacious work envelope sits a main
spindle that generates 11/18.5kW power with a
spindle speed of 5000rpm. Complementing the
power of the spindle is an extremely robust and
powerful 4.5kW motor on the driven tooling
turret. This high-torque motor drives the 12-
station BMT-55 tooling turret at spindle speeds
up to 4,000rpm. With class leading power
output from the turning spindles and a driven
tooling unit that is all manufactured in-house
by Victor, the Vturn is extremely well equipped
with a list of options that include a FANUC 0i-
TF CNC control unit, 10.4 inch colour display,
high-pressure coolant system, part catcher, oil
primarily focuses on the individual elements of
a CAD model and makes it possible to define
and standardise complex processes. The steps
for data preparation and programming, right
up to simulation and NC program generation,
can all be defined. Once a manufacturing
process has been defined, it can be applied to
any new component and executed
automatically. If any decisions cannot be made
with complete certainty within the automated
process, the user is prompted to make the
relevant choices during the program run. The
user is interactively guided through the
individual process steps, making it possible to
program the job in a very short time.
The hyperMILL® AUTOMATION Center
has opened-up CAM automation to companies
that are not permitted to use external
programming services due to strict internal
design protection requirements. Companies

Smart Damper precision boring heads.
For any manufacturers involved in boring
operations, ITC has expanded the BIG KAISER
offering of precision boring heads. Now, the
UK’s leading cutting tool manufacturer has
released two smaller sizes of the EWN Smart
Damper precision boring heads – the CK1 and
CK2. The new heads eliminate vibration in
deep-hole finish boring with a patented
damping system.
The additions make it the first time the EWN
Smart Damper has been available in diameters
below 32mm, taking it down to 19.99mm. The
CK1 head has a length of 100mm and the CK2

Applitec ZXT chip breakers for grooving and
turning operations have honed edges, laser-
generated chip breakers and a complete range
of geometries and coatings to drastically
improve precision, performance and swarf
control when machining small intricate
components. Alongside this will be the Top-
Line 700 Series that consists of an expansive
range of indexable insert grades and geometries
with specialised toolholders that guarantee
unbeatable performance for parting, front-
turning, grooving, threading, back-turning and
form turning with radial insert geometries.
Accompanying these tools will be the Flo-
Tool Series of collet holders for small part
machining. With a complete line of ER08, 11, 16,
20, 25 and 32 precision holders available with a
range of collet diameters, holder lengths and
clamping nuts, the Flo-Tool Series demonstrates
unsurpassed precision and run-out for high-
performance machining. Complementing the
Flo-Tool and Applitec lines will be the Masa
Microconic collets. Precise and stable clamping
of small workpieces in the sub-spindles of
system allows for versatility in the length of
tooling combinations, giving the customer a
maximum of 10XD boring that can run on
nearly every major spindle interface.
All tools have through coolant facility and
have three different insert holder options per
head size. The EWN analogue head features a
dial with Ø0.012mm/div setting accuracy with
vernier adjustment down to 0.0025mm. The
integral design of the new Smart Damper heads
shortens the distance from the damping
mechanism to the cutting edge, which can be a
source of vibration. By shortening this distance,
the new EWN produces improved damping
effects on the tool assembly and this minimises
sliding head machines has long been an issue
for turned part manufacturers. Floyd has
pioneered many solutions in this area, but this
latest development in association with MASA
tools is revolutionising precision workholding.
The Microconic over-grip collet system that
consists of a cartridge and precision collet
ultimately allows manufacturers to rethink
what is possible. The over-grip collet fits inside
a cartridge and is accurately adjusted before it is
fitted directly into the existing collet sleeve with
no machine adaptations are required. The
collets are available with clamping diameters
from 0.2mm to 10mm, meaning the most fragile
of parts can be clamped safely and precisely.
With a concentricity level between 3 to 5
microns, the Masa Microconic System is ideal
for precision small part turning.
Accompanying the MASA range will be the
SRS range of collet clamping heads from
Schaublin. With its unique precision runout
adjustment system, manufacturers can achieve
repeatability within 2µm, making it also
suitable for grinding machines using W or B
type draw-type collets. To further enhance
precision levels, Floyd will also show the
Mowidec spindle centring system at MACH.
The impressive spindle centring system
developed by Wibemo enables manufacturers
to reduce set-up times and save on tooling costs,
especially when machining small dimensions.
The system is suitable for sliding head
machines, single spindle turning centres, multi-
spindle machines and rotary transfer machines
where companies need to adjust a spindle, a
tool or a drill.

The easy-access rear clamping design is ideal

optimised overall length design improve

CTPM125 is characterised by a well-
balanced ratio between toughness and
elevated-temperature hardness and

machining all stainless steels. CTCM120 is a
CVD coated, highly wear-resistant carbide

with austenitic steels and boasts a smooth

purposes of the exhibition, is integrated with
an advanced SYNERGi Premier automation
system to create a highly-efficient and
flexible automated manufacturing cell

ii) A multi-tasking TT 1300SYYB - an
innovative twin-spindle/twin-turret turning
centre with Y-axis capabilities on both its
upper and lower turrets.
Both machines feature the latest Fanuc
Plus control with the innovative touchscreen
iHMI.
b) New mill-turn machines
Mills CNC has a reputation in the market
for the power, accuracy, reliability, and
versatility of its SMX-branded mill-turn
machines. This reputation is set to grow, and
be reinforced, with the recent introduction of
two new models - the SMX 2100ST and SMX
5100LB; both of which are being showcased
on Mills’ stand.
The 8” chuck SMX 2100ST is multi-tasking
machine with a 1040mm maximum turning
length, left and right opposing spindles
(5000rpm), a B-axis milling spindle, a Y-axis
and a 12-station lower turret.
The large-capacity 21” chuck SMX 5100LB
has a maximum turning length and turning
diameter of 3050mm and 830mm
respectively, a left-hand spindle
(37kW/1500rpm), a servo-driven tailstock, a
B-axis milling spindle, integrated thermal
compensation, and, up to, a 120-tool position
ATC.

The three new machining centres being

The SVM 4100 is a high-productivity
vertical machining centre designed for fast
and accurate machining of aluminium alloys
and lightweight steel components. The
machine boasts fast
acceleration/deceleration rates, fast tool
change times and impressive rapid rates. The
SVM 4100 helps component manufacturers
reduce non-cutting times and part cycle
times.
The BVM 5700 is a premium machining
centre that, owing to its rigid design and
build, delivers exceptional accuracies, greater
flexibility, unrivalled machining
performance and best-in-class process
reliability.
A rigid, thermally stable construction
ensures that thermal deformation is
minimised and, as a result, that high
accuracies can be achieved irrespective of the
materials being machined (i.e., titanium,
Stainless Steels, aluminium etc.), or the
machining process parameters employed.
The T-4000HS is a high-speed machining
centre with 48m/min rapids, a
11kW/24,000rpm spindle and a 21-tool

Lasermet has launched the Laser Castle Lite, a
low-cost, self-assembly, laser safety cabin ideal
for small laser operations including small laser
robots used for cutting, cladding or welding, as
well as for Hand-held laser welders.
Laser Castle Lite is an interlocked, modular-build, laser safety
cabin designed speci cally to protect co-workers outside
the cabin from the potentially dangerous e ects from high-
energy laser radiation.

This low-cost cabin arrives as a at-pack in a shipping crate,

and is easily assembled on site by the customer. It is supplied
with a manually operated door, safety interlock switch, dual-
message LED warning sign, Emergency Stop break glass,
internal Emergency stop button and entry door maglock – all
linked to the ICS-Solo interlock control system.

Being modular, it is constructed from the same laser blocking

material as the Laser Castle cabin (which is currently in
service all over the world) and to enable low-cost ventilation,
the cabin has an open roof void. The panels are certi ed
to BS EN IEC 60825-4. The standard cabin is 3 x 3 x 2.4m
including interlocks without the roof. The standard Laser Castle Lite is 3 x 3 x 2.4m

machine with the RFID technology has taken
the loading of the machine to a different

loading is what it’s called and we have
maximised the use of that. Things that we
would consider being unable to load prior to
the arrival of this machine, we now load.

trying to count our lead times in days and not

The ANCA MX7 Linear is a powerful,
versatile CNC tool grinder designed for
production grinding. It is built to meet the
demands of high output, high precision
manufacturing. The powerful 38 kW (51 HP)
permanent magnet spindle provides high
torque at lower RPM which is ideal for
carbide grinding and a wide range of other
applications. The MX7 Linear is a hard-
working, high productivity system with
unique features that enable it to handle
varied batch sizes with minimum set-up
time. The new cylindrical linear motor design
increases reliability further and ensures a
superior surface finish.
Commenting on the latest installation of
the MX7 Linear with RoboMate loader which
includes a FANUC LR Mate 200iD robot ,
Adrian Wright from ANCA says: “Marlor
Tooling came to us after the FX7 machine
was installed. They wanted a good all-
around solution for chaotic regrinding, this
means they can load tools from 3mm up to
16mm diameter and it doesn’t matter what
the tool type is. We can also do small-batch
manufacturing as well, once again it does not
matter what the size of the diameter of the
tool is for the loading sequence as long as it
within the 3-16mm diameter range. The robot
is programmed, and the programme is done
prior to the tools being loaded into the pallet.
Then the machine does the rest - it changes
the collets and it can measure in process with
the LaserPlus System.”

been developed to perform high precision
honing operations. These machines are very
flexible and can be easily adapted for small
series up to large production volumes.
The honing range starts at 0.6 mm
diameter up to 80 mm diameter, with honing
lengths up to approx. 210 mm, depending of
course on the shape of the workpiece.
All types of Mu-Tools honing tools can be
used on these machines. The QR codes on the
packaging boxes can be scanned and the
detailed honing tool information can be
transferred directly to the program. The
machine software can analyse the data of
each tool and display the state of wear of the
tools at any time, indicating the number of
parts machined per honing tool.
The chassis of the Mu-HS1 and Mu-HS2
machines is identical and allows the machine
type to be configured very quickly. In
addition, reinforced elements have been
integrated into the side parts, in order to
connect an automatic workpiece loading
system. As an option, a camera can be added
to record the set-up of the fixture(s) and the
position of the lubrication pipes.

422) will launch two larger sizes of co-ordinate
measuring machine (CMM) in the company's
entry-level ALTERA C range. The machines are
an ideal solution for manufacturers looking to
purchase their first motorised CMM as well as
those that need additional measurement
capacity.
With easy-to-use software and a choice of
probing options including touch-trigger,
analogue scanning and non-contact laser
scanning, ALTERA C machines provide

SLOT MILLING OF
NARROW GROOVES
Horn has extended its circular interpolation system for slot milling to
include tools for the production of narrower grooves. The
exchangeable inserts are now offered in smaller cutting widths from
0.25 mm to 1 mm, depending on the diameter. Dependent also on
tool diameter, the maximum milling depth is between 1.3 mm and 14
mm.
Inserts are available with different coatings to suit the material
being machined. Due to its mass, the solid carbide tool shank ensures
vibration damping throughout the milling process. All variants of
tool shank have an internal coolant supply.
The circular milling system is fast, reliable, achieves good surface
finish and offers users a host of advantages. During the process, the
tool plunges into the material either at an angle or horizontally and
may then be driven on a helical path. It means that threads, for
example, can be manufactured to a high level of reproducible quality.
When compared to machining using indexable inserts on larger
diameters or solid carbide milling cutters for smaller diameters,
circular interpolation milling is generally more economical. The
cutters have a wealth of applications, as they are able to machine a
wide range of materials including steels, titanium and superalloys.

ROBOTIC ARM MANUFACTURED TO SIGNIFICANTLY
IMPROVE INDUSTRY-WIDE WASTE REMOVAL METHODS
A ROBOT which accurately replicates the
mechanics of a human arm has been
manufactured to remove specific waste from
hazardous liquids from a safe, remote
distance.
The team at engineering company Forth
designed and created a robotic arm to
operate like its human counterpart, complete
with gripper technology to act as a hand, so
the time-consuming process of sifting
unwanted materials from liquids and
transporting them into a designated area
could be significantly speeded up.
Forth was approached by nuclear
decommissioning company Magnox to find a
solution on how to remove fragments of
spent fuel rods from waste ponds at its
Hinkley Point Power Station, in Bridgwater,
by using a more efficient, cheaper and safer
procedure.
Instead of removing all materials
manually at the end of the process, the
creation of the robotic arm allows companies
to target specific materials and move them
safely into a designated waste area.
The arm, manufactured from carbon fibre
and stainless steel, is controlled remotely
with a range of 10 metres and has cameras
installed to feed back live images to the
operator.
The machine operates exactly like a
human arm and its flexibility allows the
operator to navigate complicated routes.
Similarly to an arm, it has joints to
represent the shoulder, elbow and wrist to
improve the maneuverability of the
machine.
A two-pronged gripping mechanism was
placed on the end of the arm to enable the

machine to pick up the fuel rods and
transport them without difficulty.
The robotic arm can be adapted by Forth
to different clients’ needs and can therefore
be used industry-wide.
Ben Telford, the engineering manager at
Forth, said: “After being given a problem
statement from the client, we had a recce of
the site and looked at the waste pond and
went away to think of some concept ideas.
“The robotic arm was the most versatile
idea that would work successfully every
time, and we went with that because there
were a lot of constraints in the pond which
we wouldn’t be able to navigate without the
flexibility and fluid movement of the arm’s
mechanics.
“Because it works like a human arm, the
machine can manoeuvre around obstacles
and angles and that proved game changing
in the design.
“Just because we used it in the nuclear
industry, it does not mean that it only serves
a function for that sector and we can easily
adapt this for multiple industries and
whatever the job warrants.
“This robotic arm will be a huge asset to
the industry because it is going to
significantly speed up the process and save
companies substantial amounts of money,
while also reducing the risk to humans as it
removes the interface previously required for
the job.”
Magnox approached Forth because of its
excellent reputation and experience in
developing new products to solve industry-
wide solutions.
The successful outcome of the project
again highlights just why the company has
become a global leader in the engineering
industry.
Ben said: “We have worked previously
with Magnox and they were aware of our
work with other clients, so it was pleasing
that they came to us with the problem
statement.
“As a wider team, we all got together to
discuss ideas and see what we could come up
with collectively, and all the ideas and
strategies from the different experts
combined to get us to where we needed to be.
“It is definitely a collaborative approach
we take at Forth to get the best possible
results, and using the differing levels of
expertise helped us dismiss some ideas but
also come up with some others that we
hadn’t previously thought of.”

CTPE INVESTS IN PSL DATATRACK
ON THE ROAD TO ISO ACCREDITATION
CTPE Limited, based in Suffolk, has seen its
subcontract engineering business transform
over the past few years, with higher demand
from customers for increasingly complex
parts and precision components
manufactured in larger volumes. The
defence, electronics, medical and scientific
sectors have also placed greater demands on
the company in terms of product quality and
traceability.
CTPE is on the road to acquiring ISO 9001
50
accreditation and has made some significant
recent investments in order to achieve this
target. Its manufacturing services now
include 3, 4 and 5 axis machining and multi-
pallet lights out production as part of a
complete supply chain solution. As well as
enhancing its machine shop capabilities, the
company has streamlined the administration
of its entire production process by taking on
a PSL Datatrack production control system.
Before PSL Datatrack was implemented
all customer quotations and invoicing had
been paper-based, but the need to modernise
procedures to support the smooth running of
the business was clear. CTPE were aware of
the reputation and capabilities of PSL
Datatrack through similar subcontract
precision engineering companies and
investment had been in mind for some time.
“Quality is central to everything that we
do. Once we decided to go for ISO 9001, it
made perfect sense for PSL Datatrack to
become part of our quality procedures in
advance. We could have relied upon our
paper-based administration system but knew
PSL Datatrack would make us more efficient
and streamlined and would certainly help us
to retain accreditation once we achieved it,”
comments Alex Taylor, Operations Director
at CTPE.
After a period of Zoom training and
familiarisation with the system, PSL
Datatrack was fully implemented and went
live in August 2021. The company had been
able to practise with the modules it had
selected to control all key areas of the
business in advance, from quoting and
sales/purchase order processing to final
delivery and invoice.
“Each customer is created on the system
with trading rules as well as contact details. It
is key to get this right,” says Alex, “because
the information and rules set here are then
reused throughout the system. PSL Datatrack
is intuitive so for example, now when we
raise a works order all the details are
automatically pulled through from the
original quotation and all we have to add is
an order number and the production
quantities involved. The works order
information is then carried across to the
Deliveries module and so on. The system just
makes sense and is logical from start to
finish, saving us time as there is no need to
re-enter any data.”
When it comes to acquiring and retaining
ISO 9001, CTPE knows that the traceability
that PSL Datatrack affords will make that
process much slicker. It will also make repeat
business much easier to manage by keeping
records of every part manufactured with
associated drawings stored alongside them.
Another advantage for CTPE is that more
modules and user licences can be added as
and when the need arises in line with
continued business expansion.

easy to use production control software
system supported by good training and
