1. Go to https://www.mysql.

com

2. Click on ‘DOWNLOADS’

3. Scroll down and click on ‘MySQL Community (GPL) Downloads’

4. Click on ‘MySQL Installer for Windows’

5. Click on the Download button provided in the first option.


Note: the first option requires internet connection throughout the download and installation
process, while the second option works when you want to install the application in offline
mode. We will stick to the first option only.
6. Click on the …just start my download option directly

7. Open the installed application


8. Choose Custom and click on Next

9. Expand the Application section till you see the workbench name and version.
10. Now, choose the first one. Use the Green Arrow to move it to the right panel (‘Products to
be installed’)

11. Repeat the same steps for MySQL Server and click on Next

Both the workbench and server should be of same version, in this case – X64
Note: Depending on the OS, the installer may ask you to install additional software for compatibility
purpose. In such a case, few of them will be installed automatically. Few will have to be completed
manually. If such a window appears saying ‘Check Requirements’ and the status shows ‘Manual,’
please consult the faculty.

If this window does not appear, continue with the process.

12. You will see the following window now. Click Execute

13. Once the status changes to ‘Downloaded’, click Next and click Execute

14. Click on Next once the installation status on the installation window changes to Complete.
15. Click Next two times till you reach this window and select the second option ‘Use Legacy
Authentication Method’ and click on Next.

16. Set up your password and press Next 2 times


17. Click on Execute so that you see the progress as shown below:

18. Click on Finish and the on Next and then Finish again. Your application will launch.
19. Click on the Rectangle showing the Local instance and provide the password used while
setting up the application
