I strongly believe that teaching should always be student-
centered. We are in this vocation because of the learners, and that we should give importance to them and we should bring out the best in them. I adhere to the Humanism type of Student-Centered Philosophy, this approach puts focus on encouraging learners to develop an interest in educating themselves. This theory was propounded by Abraham Maslow and other proponents. The theory focuses on the learners and their overall development as individual, this also promotes a curriculum that takes the learners' knowledge and experience into account, ensures that the knowledge acquired can o plied in real life, most importantly, it ensures that the learner can develop a self interest learning. Humanism seeks to engage the learner as a whole, where their intellect, feelings, social capacities, artistic and practical skills are given attention in the learning process. In this theory, when the students are upset, sad and lack interest, they are less likely to be able to concentrate on learning. Thus, this challenges the teacher to create a classroom environment that will motivate and encourage the learners in the material they are studying. So, as teachers we integrate strategies that will catch the interest of our students in our daily lessons, like reading them a story, make use of audio/visual presentations, fun activities, etc.
