SPIRITUAL SURGERY.

 One of the keys to power and even lifting is purity

Purity doesn’t just cover abstaining from sexual

immorality…because you can be far from sexual immorality but

your motives are still evil. Evil motives in this kingdom are any and

every motive that doesn’t seek to glorify and exalt Jesus and truly

it’s one of the reasons why to today God will not use many people.

Motives are usually the number 1 road blocks to the anointing.

Now it is not usual for me to teach by using Greek and Hebrew

but for the subject we are covering we will need it for

understanding. We will examine the letter of Paul to Coloss which

is the book called Colossians. In chapter 1 Paul gives a direction

and admonishments to walk worthy of the lord because you can

be walking unworthy unto the lord through spiritual laziness and

ignorance. For this reason the Bible says any man who puts his

hand to the plow and turns back is not fit for this kingdom nor

worthy of me

“But Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow
and looks back [to the things left behind] is fit for the kingdom of
God.”” Luke 9:62 AMP

So then Paul closes Chapter 1 with giving the hope of Glory in and

through Christ. When we arrive to Chapter 2 Paul speaks on being

present in the spirit and then the principles of being rooted in

Christ. Now to our chapter of emphasis which is chapter 3 of

Colossians for part 1 Paul begins to classify the standard for

being buried in Christ and alive in him. So let’s let the surgery

begin
“Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life,
sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the
things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of
God.”- Colossians 3:1 AMP

 The first point of emphasis is focus.

He says if your truly apart of the mystery of Christ your focus seek

those things which are above where Christ is. Meaning the

burdens of Jesus should be your burdens too not just the man of

God. What Jesus is focused on you to should be on to. What

Jesus is concerned about you should be concerned about. Now

why would Paul be saying this? Some of you are so focused on

you and what you have going on that Jesus only becomes

relevant on Sunday and that’s it. Life has a way of trying to put the

matters of a master second to ministry, second to business,

second to family, second to career and even second to schooling.

As much as those things are important his business which is

winning souls to the father through him should be ours to.

When last did you worry about other souls in the university? When
last at work that you begged God for did you take concern for the

souls around? When last in your fellowship or ministry did you

concern about souls then having a good word and being seen? It’s

is a sorry and unfaithful servant who can preach the word of God

and not make a altar call? It means your motive wasn’t souls

saved and changed but self

To the ministers the goal is ALWAYS:

1. Jesus lifted

2. Jesus revealed

3. Jesus glorified

When last through your business did you use it as a platform to

win souls? So this is why Paul made a remark because he knew

that it’s easy to prioritize our own matters over the matters of

Jesus. In verse 2 of chapter 3 he says so SET YOUR AFFECTION

on those things above. Affection here means what you have deep

passion and fire for.. he’s saying make it your deep passion to

focus on what Jesus is concerned about which is the kingdom

advancement and soul winning…. For it’s the will of God that none
shall perish but all come to the knowledge of God through Christ.

Many of you if asked today: name 3 things you are passionate

about? Many of you would never say soul winning, prayer or

anything around these areas for many it would be money, family,

business, family, career, school etc. Am I downplaying these

areas? No they are all equally important but in our journey of faith

soul winning and kingdom advancement should be priority. Some

of you are young ministers and even pastors but can remember

last time you prayed for souls that are lost around your city or

village. When last when you left the village you came from did you

pray for the souls there that God would save them or bring revival?

Many of you don’t care but only care that you made it out from

there …you need this spiritual surgery. Even family back in the

village you turn your head from or look down on others still there

but not once said oh God save them and use them and let them

know you like I know you. Now verse 3 of chapter 3 is our voice of

emphasis

“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth;

fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil
concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:”-
Colossians 3:5 KJV

He says mortify therefore your members which are upon earth

meaning the things in the flesh that has the power to bring down

your spirit. Every person no matter how prayerful or how much

you cast if you don’t mortify these things meaning put them to

death or to say put them into subjection by the word and spirit

they will kill you and your destiny. The very first thing he says is

FORNICATION. Fornication here in the Greek translate to:

PORNEIA. See the root word is porn meaning anything that has

relation to or association to porn

PORNEIA means:

1) Pornography (dealing with eyes and ears

2) fornication (dealing with physical sexual interaction

3) sexual immorality many any sexual activity that goes against

Gods word and principles of marriage which is like polygamy,

masturbation, homosexuality, bisexuality, sexting etc. So see if

you read at surface level you’d miss the meat of the message of

Paul but now looking at it this one word means all of this

Pornography is a system and spirit that attacks the eyes and ears.

Your eyes and ears are systems for transmission straight to your

mind and spirit. This is why to those who struggle with watching

pornography if they don’t receive proper deliverance they will

manifest as they see and hear and start fornication.

Fornication is any form of sex outside of marriage. Then sexual

immorality described the full nature of sexual sins:

 Masturbation

 Oral sex

 Sexting

 Sodomy

And anything else along these lines. So Paul says if you are dead

in Christ these things SHOULD NOT be at work in you. If they are

then there’s a need for deliverance and counseling

 Number 2 that Paul list is uncleanliness

Uncleanliness is the Greek is AKATHARSIA. AKATHARSIA means

a unclean life and unclean thoughts. Let’s start with lifestyle

Lifestyle in diet: some of you are so unhealthy in diet and it’s even

already causing problems. You don’t fast, you down Coca Cola

like it’s water all day every day, you don’t eat healthy foods, your

always losing around eating etc. It’s called gluttony. It’s should

not be so. Some of you are even gaining weight and your skin is

breaking out very bad because of your diet. Your kidneys ache you

get tired easily because you treck in the heat all day and never had

not a sip of water just Coca Cola all around

Lifestyle in hygiene: ehen some of you don’t brush your teeth for

days or at all. You jump out of bed dress and out the door without

bathing or showering. Sisters you want a man and you are

smelling with sweat from the heat it won’t happen. My brother

your trying to attract a sister at church and when you lift your

arms to greet she always dies in the process because you didn’t

shower before service or sport deodorant that’s sitting at home.

Some of you walking into your room is walking into garbage field

trash all around, dirty clothes ever which way and you want the

lord to meet you there. This is not to put anyone down but how

can we say our lives glorify God and we live like this. Sisters you

have the money to look nice and you don’t. Brothers you have the

money to get decent hair cut or nice outfit and you don’t and

expect destiny helpers to come to you

Lifestyle in activity: some of you sleep all day every day and only

wake for school and church or work. You won’t take a city

sleeping all day and all night it’s not possible

Lifestyle in Growth: you have vision and prophecy of greatness

but you don’t study, you don’t go to learning events, you don’t

humble yourself to ask questions but expect to be great . No sir!

Greatness isn’t cheap it will cost you money. Stop wasting money

around and save for school or whatever you plan to attend. The

Bible says go buy from those who sell the truth meaning the

information will cost you but if you get it you will rise

Lifestyle in finance: some of you have no financial up keeping.

You use up what’s left of your salary after bills in one day or one

week on food, fancy clothes etc. One of the laws of greatness is

to live below your current level. Get rid of this mentality to always

have to impress people. For example your worth in assets is

750000 naira live like you only have half of that. If you cant buy

something twice you can’t afford it. Stop buying and start

investing. Invest in things that will cause you to increase. The

problem of most Christians is they been taught to buy but never

invest…we will have a course soon on the laws of accessing and

maintaining abundance and wealth. Hmm we will close here for

tonight because we are out of time. To be alive in Christ isn’t just

faith it’s having a lifestyle that matches that faith but these are

areas to seriously reflect on. We will come back in December to

these lifestyle areas when we do a teaching on “ how to plan and

organize personal retreats”. If a area so far has touched you don’t

go to bed until you have hashed it out with destiny asking the lord

for the grace to overcome.
