 FLY the aircraft!


 Establish glide speed 73 KIAS
 Trim
 WIND (fly final leg into wind if possible)
 FIELD (flat, long, near civilization, etc.)
 PLAN
o Circuit Pattern OR
o 360 Pattern
 High Key Point – over intended touch down point (less than 1/3 of field)
 (Glide rate of descent x 2) + 200 ft or approx 1400’
 Low Key Point – 180 degrees from High Key Point; other side of
diameter of circle pattern
 800’ AGL
 Set speed to 60 KIAS (flaps T/O), 55 KIAS (flaps LDG) or 64 KIAS
(flaps CRUISE)
 Final Key Point – tight base leg position
 500’ AGL
 Cause Check
o Mixture full rich
o Alternate air open
o Fuel shut-off open
o Fuel pump on
o Ignition switch cycle L – BOTH – R- BOTH
o Throttle at present position, if no improvement
 Reduce to idle / min required power and land asap
 Engine Shut-down
o Fuel shut-off valve closed
o Mixture idle cut-off
o Ignition off
o Pax brief (seatbelts, no sharp/loose objects, unlatch doors to prevent jamming)
o Emergency Call 121.5
 MAYDAY x3
