Introduction

Where We Are Sharing

We are missionaries of Northside Baptist Church being sponsored by the Barataria Baptist Church in Lafitte, Louisiana. Jeff Smith is the Minister of youth and Eddie Painter is the pastor at Barataria Baptist Church. They will be working with us during our stay. We will be working in resort areas that, before hurricanes and the oil spill, have had several thousand vacationers each week.

Household/Dean of Women/Kitchen Queens

Anything having to do with household matters will be handled byAudrey. If you forget something (toothbrush, soap, etc.), she will be the person to see. If you need something purchased, you will need to let Audrey know ASAP. It will be best if you tell her in the morning of what you will need that evening. She will only make one trip to town a day. Also, any issues dealing specifically with the girls will be Mrs. Audreys responsibility. Nurse

All your medical concerns should be brought to Mrs. Sharon. She will not do any major surgery. If you need surgery, Bro. Chris will be the one to see. But all minor medical needs (bee sting, poison ivy, etc.) will be handled by Mrs. Sharon. Working in a nursing home, . . . .well. . . You get the idea. Bouncer/Dean of Men

If you need bouncing, Jonathan Allen can address that need. Any issues that relate to just guys will be handled by Mr. Jonathan. If you need tucking in at night, fellas, hell be able to help you there. He sings a mean lullaby! Daddy

As the name applies, Bro. Chris will be everyones daddy during the week. Now, you can still let your daddy be daddy! Dont get crazy. Bro. Chris will make all the daddy-type decisions.

Try to remember, is the most important word you will need to use during mission trip. Take a good dose of it every morning and all during the day.

FLEXIBILITY

Mission Trip Manual 2011 page 4

Dress Guidelines Keep cool and casual, but remember . . . .

1 Typical weather in the Lafitte metropolitan area is hot mornings with even hotter 2 afternoons. Nights may be cool, but I doubt it. You are welcome to bring a 3 light jacket Because of these factors, it is necessary to share some general 4 guidelines. Dress should be modest at all times, in keeping with Christian standards. Shoes should be comfortable. No T-Shirts with advertisements promoting products inconsistent with Biblical standards. When in doubt, DONT!!!

Other Helpful Survival Tactics

We will be staying at ___________in Lafitte. In the event of an EMERGENCY, you may reach us at 205-522-8643.
1 Please keep in mind AT ALL TIMES that we are on a mission. We have a purpose; and Satan WILL seek to destroy that purpose. Be on guard, so that your every action testifies to Jesus. We will respect Christ as Lord of our mission, Lord of our group, and just plain Lord of All. Be sensitive to how the Lord is moving. At any moment, without warning, we may be swept into an opportunity to share. So, be quick to interpret the situation. And if Bro. Chris gives you a request, please do what youre asked QUICKLY. A soul may be hanging in the balance. 2 A Complaining Nature should not be in your luggage. Neither youth nor adults can afford to be difficult, if we expect God to work in us. If you have a problem with how something is going, weigh out the eternal consequences before you decide to throw a fit in front of everybody. Therell be plenty of time when we get home for you to criticize something I did or didnt do. 3 You know the drill about romance. Your mission is NOT to find Mr. or Mrs. Right. This is a BIG deal! You must not compromise your ability to minister by allowing Satan to lead you to let your focus become romance. 4 Please respect and obey the adults God has allowed to come with us. As you will see, we dont have time to waste on debating. Everyone is required to be where they are assigned. Remember, leaders are here for your benefit, and should always be treated with the utmost respect. TRUST AND OBEY, for theres no other way. The only answer when an adult asks you to do something is Yes, sir/maam! 5 Please leave all ipods and/or gameboys and the like on the vans or back at camp. You may play or listen to them on the vans. When playing or listening is an option, you will be informed. Things to bring:
1 Toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc.) 3 Bible, notebook and pen/pencil 2 Pillows and bed linens 4 enough clothes for six days and nights (avg. 2 changes per day) 6 A positive, servant-hearted attitude

5 $ for 5 road meals and spending (spending $ is parents call) 7 Be prepared to share the Gospel 8 Skin-So-Soft or other bug repellent/sunscreen anytime, anywhere! Type lotion (a lot of it) 9 Any tapes or CDs for you to sing 10 shower shoes solos as we have opportunity. 11 Your Teaching/Recreation/Crafts or other needed Materials for your responsibilities.

Adult Mission Trip Staff

Expectations of every Adult involved in Mission Trip

1. DESIRE to be Gods best youth worker! 2. UNCONDITIONALLY LOVE all our youth! 3. SET THE RIGHT EXAMPLE EXAMPLE ! 4. REACH OUT to and spend equal amounts of time with all youth! 5. PUT GODS WILL FOR YOUR LIFE FIRST! 6. Work cooperatively with Bro. Chris. 7. Be a Friend to the youth, but dont try to be one of them! You are an adult and they are adolescents. They need leadership. They can get into trouble without our help. 8. When guidelines or rules are set, go by them and insist that the youth go by them; If you break the rules, you encourage the youth to break the rules and disrespect authority. A related
issue is that someone must be responsible for this mission trip. Under Jesus, Bro. Chris is that someone. I am not a dictator, but because of the vast responsibility of supervising and guiding this many young people, it is necessary for you also to understand how much I need and require your support. Because you and I are everybodys parents on this trip, it is CRUCIAL that our philosophies about authority be consistent and not conflicting. If there needs to be a discussion or debate about how I handle situations, lets handle it privately, so our authority is not compromised by division . 9. During the week, we will conduct periodic inspections of the rooms where were staying. Each youth is expected to keep his/her room as neat as possible.

for the youth, A CHRISTLIKE
