THE JOY OF GIVING

Tulong Mag-aaral Program is an initiative of the Araling Panlipunan department

intended to extend financial assisstance and material needs (school supplies, shoes &
uniforms) to deserving indigent students. The Guidance Counselor in each curriculum is
tasked to identify students who are qualified to avail of the program. Everyone in school is
enjoined to take part in this noble act to extend help in any form that could somehow
alleviate the status of our students to see the silver lining amidst the bitter reality of life.
Some of our cheerful givers (Grade 10 completers) handed down their old uniforms. Others
donated school supplies while some sponsors give monetary assistance. As of to date, all
cash and in kind donations are intact, to be distributed very soon. The committee is hopeful
that this program will widen its scope by inviting other stakeholders and benefactors to
share their blessings to the less fortunate.
The recipients received plastic envelopes full of school supplies which consisted of
notebooks, ballpens, pads of writing papers, bondpapers as well as hand-down school
uniforms which were generously donated by some Grade 10 students and ZSNHS Alumni.
Dr. Fe Alvarez Bibanco hoped that more stakeholders would take part into this kind of
endeavor. She personally handed the school supplies to the first 50 recipients of the Tulong
Mag-aaral Program. She is joined by the AralingPanlipunan Head Teacher III, Dr. Lane V.
Pondara. These students were screened from Grades 7-10 in relation to their economic
status, class performance in the previous school year and family background.
