†† Viewing a job
The user can preview jobs from the Main screen and also when selecting jobs. The
user can change the size of the image area being previewed and the location of the
image in the preview window.

The currently selected job can be


viewed on the Main screen.

Use the “-” to reduce the size of the


preview.

Use the “+” to enlarge the size of the


preview.

If dark arrows (▲►▼◄) are present,


1 a portion of the image is obscured.
The user can view more of the image
by touching the arrow pointing to the
obscured area.

Press (1) to change the size


of the image being previewed to its
original size (100%).

Jobs can also be viewed during job


selection.

of the printer on a background color that varies with state.

Test Printing

The button is used to test print the job in production in the Execute state and
can be triggered from three screens:

• The Information screen

• The Quality screen

• The Position screen

Test printing can only be done in the Execute state.

The button is disabled when the printer is not in the Execute state.

User Profiles

Profiles are used for various access levels for printer operation, job modification, and
printer settings.
The printer has two types of profiles.

Limited operator profile provides access to:


• Power the laser on and off
• Start and stop printing the selected job
• View the Information screen

Operator profile provides access for simple modification:


• All limited operator profile functions
• Selecting a job
• Test printing
• Editing the contents of an unlocked data field
• Adjusting the image contrast and position of a job on the product

Advanced profile provides access to:


• All operator profile functions
• Creating new jobs and advanced editing of existing jobs
• Deleting jobs
• Settings menus
• Tools menus

The profile icon that is displayed on the Main screen shows the currently activated profile.

A job consists of different types of fields that are designed and arranged on the screen
to represent their printed appearance. Each field type corresponds to a data type such
as text or date / time.

Advanced profile level is required for creating and editing jobs.

New jobs can be created in two ways:


– by opening a blank, new job with default style attributes and no field data or
– by editing and renaming an existing job that is similar to the desired new job.

Existing jobs can be edited using the same screens and tools used to create new jobs.

Once fields are added to a job, advanced editing screens and tools are used to further
edit and position the fields.

If a text field was selected, the keyboard


screen will be displayed.

For details on entering text, refer to “Text

If a Date/ Time field was selected, the


Time/ Date screen will be displayed.

For details on editing and formatting

Fields.”

The content of a Shift code field cannot


be edited from this screen. Shift code
fields can only be edited from the Tools
/ Settings / Job / Shift code menu. For

The field settings button is used to lock a field (1) or adjust print quality (2).

changed from this screen.

Unlocking a field

Unlocking a field allows access to the field during simple editing.

Adjusting print quality

Dwell time
The Dwell time defines the duration in microseconds (10-4294967 μs) that the laser
remains steady at the location where it will leave a mark.

This can apply to one selected field or it can apply to all fields in the image.

Pixel spacing
The Pixel spacing defines the spacing in millimeters (0.01-20 mm).

This can apply to one selected field or it can apply to all fields in the image.

„„Creating bold text

The Pixel pattern and Pixel pattern size settings are used to create bold text. By increasing
the number of dots in the Pixel pattern and the Pixel Pattern Size in millimeters, bolder text
can be created.

This can apply to one selected field or it can apply to all fields in the image.

†† Select Pixel pattern

Select the desired pattern (1).

Press (2).

Note: ‘1 dot’ pattern is the conventional laser print. Dot counts of 3, 5 or 7 dots per pixel
are offered for bold text print.

■ Print Speed and Pixel Pattern


Increasing the Pixel Pattern number will reduce the Print Speed with all other values
remaining constant. To maintain a desired print, reducing Dwell Time while increasing the
pixel pattern may be helpful in keeping the print speed at an acceptable level. Reducing
Dwell Time may also reduce burn-through issues.

A new job can also be created by editing an existing job and then saving the job under
a new name.

Adjusting a job in production

The following can be modified on a job in production if the job is not locked:
• The print quality of the image
• The position of the image on the product
• The contents of an unlocked field (see “Simple editing”)

The laser power can be increased or decreased to adjust print quality.

A barcode is a machine readable identification code consisting of data represented by


a pattern of dots or geometric shapes or a strip of parallel bars of varying widths.

Many types of barcodes, such as Datamatrix, QR, and Code 39 are available for use in
jobs.

The IP addresses of children are configured from the parent printer using the Network

The user defines the contents of Shift codes as follows.

• The Shift code value (1) is defined by the user.


• The Starting time value (2) of a shift is defined by the user.
• The Ending time value (3) of a shift is determined by the Starting time value of the
next shift.
• The total of the Intervals (4) is automatically calculated from the Starting time and
Ending time and must equal 24 hours.
• If no shift is scheduled for a period of the day, a Shift code must be created to ac-
count for the idle time duration. If no printing occurs during the shift, the shift code
will not print.
