The Moral Act

(Activity 2.2)

2.2 Conduct an online interview with an advocate of same-sex marriage (preferably a member of
the
LGBT community) and one who is opposed to it. Come up with your own set of questions aimed at
understanding better the pros and cons of the positions of your interviewees. Video- record or
attach
screenshots of the interview as you submit it to your course instructor. Then, discuss the issue
guided by the following questions:

• What are the strengths and weaknesses of your interviewees’ position?

As a Christian, I shouldn't have any preconceived notions about how to judge another person;
only God has that authority. Both sides have a fervent conviction. The LGbt community
works to have same-sex marriage accepted so that they can unite and support gender
empowerment, which eliminates discrimination. It feels like culture shock to non-supporters
whose nations and populations have not adjusted to the passage of time. Despite the fact that
they do have a very good reason to oppose same-sex unions, in today's world, people are just
more sensitive to what they are called, which is the root of discrimination.
• How does the interview help you better understand the perspectives of the stakeholders
(both pros and cons) and the issue itself of same-sex marriage?
Because of the issue of same-sex marriage and the pros and cons, it helps me understand both
sides of the argument. Almost every ethical system is based on some variation of the “Golden
Rule.”
Simply put, this means putting yourself in the shoes of another person and attempting to help
them.
Recognize how your actions will affect them. Basically, if you don’t want to

It is unethical for you to do that to others, and it is unethical for you to do it to them. It’s a
Christian term.

‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,’ as the saying goes.
• Based on your interview, how do relate the concept of standards of morality?
The morality of same-sex marriage has become a hot topic in the twenty-first century. Some
Western cultures believe that same-sex marriage is morally acceptable and should be legalized.
They engineered the phenomenon's globalization by leveraging the human rights craze and
political power. This move has been met with strong opposition, primarily from 'developing'
countries and a few religious denominations. These organizations contend that same-sex marriage
is immoral, natural, and ungodly. Morally, the issue of same-sex marriage cannot be successfully
defended. It attempts to demonstrate that same-sex marriage is not just a Western phenomenon,
but has long been practiced, even in some African cultures, albeit in more subtle ways. We should
be more understanding of one another's viewpoints because it is the most ethical way.

Interview Question

1.) Do you agree or disagree in same sex marriage. Why?

2.) Why same sex marriage legalize?

3.) Legalizing Same sex marriage, what benefits or effect got from it?
