STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

An enormous number of challenges, thrown out by rapid development in science and technology, have
made me choose Computer Science. I take this opportunity to describe my educational background and
career objectives that motivated me to pursue a career in B.Sc. (Computer science). I have completed
my Secondary School education from Sri Sai Vidyaniketan, from State Board of Secondary Education
with 78.3% in the year 2007. My Higher Secondary is from Sri Chaitanya Junior Kalasala from Board of
Intermediate with 62.5% overall, with my main stream subjects being Mathematics, Physics and
Chemistry in the year 2009. My interest in these subjects led me to opt for Computer Science in
Osmania University, where I secured second class degree, in the year 2013, April. The education I
received is valuable. It has helped me understand the computer technology and acquire an in-depth
knowledge of the fundamental principles of Computer Science, and how to apply them, in both theory
and practice. It has also helped me in building the ability to conceive, develop and to provide the
solutions to the various industrial problems.

My first project titled ASI (Accounting Software Information) is based on complete accounting
software. It Provides account related solutions to companies like payroll management, Pension
Management, Filling management etc. Features to companies.

I have also done a project titled I CanStay, it is an online Hotel booking system. It provides
functionality to register user and buy vouchers for booking in the registered Hotels on the basis of
availability of rooms. Hotels can register to provide different schemes to the user according to their
requirement.

Then I have also had my role in a project called OAS (Office Automation System), it is a web-based
multi-functional human resource management and information system. It is secure and easy to use and
maintain. It is very comprehensive and powerful HR systems that can manage information and process a
multitude of transactions. It efficiently automates the process of recruitment, employee management,
benefits administration, performance management, Issue tracking system etc. But more importantly it
enables organization to maintain their employee assets in a more effective manner.

Later I have participated in a project named HRM Systems, this application facilitates to manage the
employee data, leaves, and attendance. Currently tested and being used successfully within our
organization. Our company has already identified external customers and plans to rollout this product to
them. We are enhancing this to include Performance, Training, and Payroll features along mobile
application for this product.

The final project in which I have performed was the general purpose of the UMS – User Management
Systems is to provide HR & Networking department with a self-service portal in reviewing and
assignment of permissions to assets and also track, monitor the assets provided to the employees to
perform the work in an effective and efficient way.
So, I decided to pursue my Masters in Computer Science, for an in-depth knowledge in the subject and
gain vast international exposure.

Why not other countries?

I found that after three-year bachelor program from India, International students have to study one year
bridge program to join the master’s program in the USA as well as getting admission is complicated
assurance processes in education. UK provides the world's most rigorous protection for international

Duration of two years increases the costing. Security to international students is a major concern for
students like me. The tuition and living Expenses are high and extreme climatic conditions are other
strong reasons which force me not to opt for USA.
Canada does not offer direct master’s program and entry requirements are high with extreme climatic
conditions which is not my choice. New Zealand master’s programs entry requirements are high and
tuition fees are high and they suggest only diploma programs for which I am not interested.
International students from India find admission process and visa are complex issues. Ongoing Political
situations do not favor international students which are not clear. The tuition fees and living expenses in
other countries are very costly for Indians when compared to UK.

Why not India?

The process in India for Master program one has to clear entrance exams and another hurdle is the
prevailing reservations system, as programs are theory based and the lack of practical knowledge from
institutions is a major drawback to pursue higher education in India. Even we have Quota System here in
India, which lead to limited seats for general quota and even high competition in getting the admission.
When we look into the Infrastructure, Faculty, Professional accreditations, Multicultural environment
etc., we can compare any of those things with studies in India and those are the few reasons why I chose
not to study in India apart from the brighter career opportunities with a foreign degree. The courses are
not industry focused and institutes have no industry tie-ups for internship towards students overall skill
development toward employability. The culture of work while you learn is not yet fully understood in
India, this does not provide for hands-on experience while studying.
Though India is a multi-cultural society, the presence of international student in our universities is low
compared to other countries. This does not provide any exposure to various conditions in which we can
hone our skills and sharpen our senses. Hence, studying abroad opens up avenues for me to explore and
imbibe a practical skill through pragmatic approach.

Masters in computer science is ideal. If I have first degree in computing and looking to progress my

knowledge that employers need for tomorrow’s enterprises, a lot of organizations are depending on
Computer Science based solution which makes the companies run smoothly and efficiently. In order to
be ready & suited for tomorrow technology and demand, we have to be skilled and equipped which will
happen only through this course. I have learnt the principles of Computer Science those are applicable to
most tools, software and processes which naturally widens my scope of learning and research. And also,
during my study I have come across a few topics as well which further raised my interest. This has
intrigued me to explore the option of pursuing master’s course from your prestigious University, which I
believe will not only supplement my knowledge that I have acquired but also provide me with the best
possible platform for the attainment of my future goals. We will gain a comprehensive education in the
principles and practice of computer Science. Through the chosen major, we will develop an in-depth
understanding of the underlying technology, administration and application of specific applications of
information technology and systems.

from there will not only provide good experience but will help me in learning things in a diverse
environment. My studies in UK will be both challenging and interesting for a person like me, to explore
new avenues and achieve a balance between life and work. This opportunity would be of immense value
