INTRODUCTION
As the touchscreen feature for the SEL-700 series relays becomes more common, being able to
implement the touchscreen in different ways is a powerful tool to further increase the usability of
the relay. This application guide outlines the process to create a voltage-level warning screen for
the touchscreen display of an SEL-751 Feeder Protection Relay and can be used as a reference to
create other custom warning screens for different applications.
Step 2. With the new project opened, rename the first screen title to Voltage Warning Screen
by right clicking New Screen and selecting the Rename option, as shown in Figure 2.
Step 3. Add a textbox to the Voltage Warning Screen by dragging the textbox icon onto the
screen, as shown in Figure 3. Use the properties tab to select the display text and mod-
ify the text to Voltage Status (highlighted in Figure 3). Your screen should now match
the screen in Figure 3.
Step 4. Add a digital label to the Voltage Warning Screen by dragging the digital label icon
onto the screen (shown in Figure 4). Repeat that step four more times to create a total
of five digital labels. Use the Properties tab to modify the highlighted properties in
Figure 4 to match Table 1. Note that Pre Text and Cleared Text do not have values in
Table 1. The default values are deleted for this example. Once completed, your screen
should match what is shown in Figure 5.
Digital Label Text Color Pre Text Asserted Text Cleared Text
1 #FF16FF3F Healthy
2 #FFFFFF00 Overvoltage Alarm
3 #FFFFFF00 Undervoltage Alarm
4 #FFF1241C Overvoltage Trip
5 #FFF1241C Undervoltage Trip
Step 5. With all five digital labels created, the labels need to be overlapped to occupy the same
area on the screen. Select and drag each label until they overlap, as shown in Figure 6.
Step 6. After the screen is complete, it can be exported to an .LDME file type that can be used
by ACSELERATOR® Quickset SEL-5030 Software and sent to a relay. Select the
Export icon, highlighted in Figure 7, to export the project to an .LDME file.

Step 2. To create the logic to control the output of the voltage status, use five SELOGIC® Vari-
ables and Timers. Use the settings shown in Figure 11 to create the proper logic. Vari-
able SV06 will be used for controlling Healthy Voltage, SV07 for Undervoltage
Alarm, SV08 for Undervoltage Trip, SV09 for Overvoltage Alarm, and SV10 for
Overvoltage Trip. Note that the logic is set to give priority to displaying trip messages
over alarm messages, and overvoltage messages are given priority over undervoltage
messages.
Step 3. To import new screens into Quickset, navigate to the Bay Control tab, select Import,
as shown in Figure 12, and choose the .LDME file created and exported in Step 6 on
page 4.
Step 4. To map the logic to the Voltage Warning Screen, select Touchscreen > Bay Control >
Voltage Warning Screen. Once selected, the SELOGIC Variables and Timers can be
mapped to the proper digital labels, as shown in Figure 13.
Step 5. To enable the screens used for the rotating display, select Touchscreen > Rotating
Display. On the rotating display settings page, select the newly created bay screen
(Voltage Waring Screen in this example) and move it to the Chosen Screens window,
as shown in Figure 14.
Step 6. The settings file is now ready to be saved and sent to the relay.
CONCLUSION
This guide provides step-by-step instructions to create a Voltage Warning Screen on a touchscreen
display for an SEL-751. More detailed and complex screens can be created following similar pro-
cedures for different applications and other SEL-700 series relays with touchscreen displays.
