PEOPLE:-
Sanyam shah.

The book "Seven habits of highly effective people" is one of bestselling book of its
time. It is written by "Stephen Covey", one of highly successful people in world.
The author had written this book after studying lives of top 1000 highly successful
people and then analyzing that what are the habits that are common in all their
lives and are highly responsible for their immense success. In this book author has
told about 7 habits and how to practically implement them in our daily lives and
that is the beauty of this book. As all of us knew many things like to read books,
eat healthy food, do exercise, etc. but the problem comes in part of bringing
these habits in practice and consistently doing them, and keeping in mind this
huge problem author has designed this book. This book is highly recommended by
many successful people.

The seven habits are:-

1)Be Proactive
2)Begin with end in mind
3)Put first things first
4)Think win/win
5)Seek first to understand, then to be understood
6)Synergize
7)Sharpen the saw

There is also an 8th habit, the most important that is to practice the above 7
habits.

Let’s take a deep dive into all the habits one by one:-

1)BE PROACTIVE:
Proactive is something about the power that we have to choose our response
over stimuli. As stimuli is not in our hand but how to react towards it is definitely
in our hand. Like someone is teasing you but there are two ways to react first
start teasing the other person and become angry and second is you too laugh on
yourself and be happy. Stimuli is nothing but any situation that life throw to us
and that can be anything like you met an accident or just recent like covid and it is
not in our hands but what in our hands is how to react to the situation like either
lose our calm and play the victim card or to have patience, accept the situation
and then act accordingly. Proactive people are the ones who in any circumstances
think about solutions & not give excuses.

A) INCIDENT:-
Author talks about one incident that he was working with one home
improvement industry and that was time of recession and this industry was
heavily affected by it. On 1st day author and the executives talked about “what’s
happening around”? And by the end of day all were very depressed. On 2 nd day
they talked about “what will happen in future”? Again all of them were even
more depressed. On 3rd day they asked proactive questions like “what are we
doing about all this”, “how can we minimize costs”, “what new can we do”? By
the end of the day all were excited & enthusiastic. This is what proactivity means.

B) CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE & CIRCLE OF CONCERN:-

All the things that we can control comes under circle of influence & that we
can’t in circle of concern eg:-weather, appreciation by others, covid. Proactive
people always focusses on circle of influence while reactive people wastes
their energy & time on circle of concern. Mistakes are done by every human
But keeping them in mind and ruining our present lists under circle of concern
while circle of influence covers acknowledge mistake and accept it and learn
from it and that what we can do as if we keep on thinking to change our past,
that is impossible and not in our control.

All the “Have’s” comes in concern i.e.

“I will feel happy if I had my degree..”
“if I had a more patient husband…..”
While circle of influence is filled with “Be’s” i.e
“I will be more patient”
“I will be more focused”.

Author says that we should work on our circle of influence and then only we
will be able to increase our effectivity. Otherwise we will make ourselves a
powerless victim and just complaining about circumstances . Author tells us to
take 30 day test of our proactivity in which we have to do change our
responses towards the same stimuli and act different than in past we had and
also to just think and act on those things that are in our control i.e. circle of
influence for 30 days.

All other 6 habits we will be writing in further articles!!
