Essay

Some people say that a bypass is just a waste of money, the disadvantages outweighing the
benefits of creating one, while others think that not enough money is spent on trying to build more.

There are many reasons that suggest the latter to be the more rational one. For one thing, a
bypass creates less traffic congestion, helping citizens drive more swiftly through the city, this way, they
don’t have to wake up too early in the morning to make sure they get to work, or school, making them
function better in their day to day activities. For another thing, there would be faster routes to use
during traveling, helping the driver get faster to his destination. The longer the driver would spend on
that road, the bigger the chances of creating an accident.

Conversely, it may not be the right thing to do. There are people living outside the city, the only
things troubling me would be what would happen to their land? While it is true that the bypass would
have a huge impact on the city, it may not be as useful and beneficial to the suburbs, and so, the city
would also have to buy the land off the people living there, also troubling them to move. Their farming
activities would be delayed by at least a year, the city having to pay for those damages too.

Personally, I feel that a bypass would benefit people more than disadvantage them.
Even though it would be a setback for the outsiders, it would not affect them by much, and they would
have a new beginning, a clean slate. Taking everything into consideration, I think the bypass should be
built, the advantages outweighing the disadvantages.
