A Thousand Cuts

Watch the award-winning documentary film, A Thousand Cuts which is


about journalist Maria Ressa who risked her life and freedom as an
outspoken critic of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs.

In a maximum of 2 mins, create a reaction video about the Ramona S.


Diaz film while being guided by the following questions:

1. Describe A Thousand Cuts. What particular scene affected you the


most?
2. Based on the film, what has been the critical role of journalists in our
democratic society?
3. What can you say about the weaponization of social media today?
4. What is the importance of a free press to counter disinformation?
5. What is the lesson that we can learn from A Thousand Cuts?

Rubric:

Content – 15 pts

The student understands what he is talking about. The student was


able to answer majority of the guide questions provided.

Editing – 10 pts.

The sound and video editing is flawless and in synched. It is clear and
attracts audience to watch the video until the end.

Impact and Creativity – 10 pts.

The student delivered an impactful output and was creative with it.
