Objectives of the Study

The main objective of this study is to have a mobile application to be used by the
University of Batangas students for reporting of calamity and natural disaster incidents within
Lipa City area at the tap of the finger with the use of their mobile smart phones. Specifically, it
aimed to:
1. Analyze the concepts of mobile programming, web programming, global positioning
system (GPS) tracking and database management system in the development of a
mobile application and a website.
2. Design and develop a mobile application and website with the following features:
a. allow the student to download the APK file from website
b. get student number and password to permit students to report
c. send an incident report to a web server by quick report, send a photo, or
short message service (SMS) with the aid of internet or data connection
d. track the location of the sender using global positioning system (GPS)
e. displays the reported incidents in a webpage given the incident itself,
name of the sender, date and time of reported incident, location, and the
action taken
f. allow the admin to indicate the action taken in the reported incidents
3. Test the system using ISO/IEC 9126 testing standard for software with the following
criteria: functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, portability, and maintainability
4. To implement iReport: Calamity and Natural Disaster Reporting Mobile Application for
UB Lipa Students.

Conclusion
At the end of the research “iReport: Calamity and Natural Disaster Reporting Mobile
Application”, in consideration of the objectives of the study and the result of the testing and
evaluation undertaken, the following conclusions were derived.

1. Using the concepts of web programming, mobile programming, global positioning

system (GPS) tracking, and database management system, iReport reporting
mobile application and website was successfully developed.
2. The system was successfully designed using conceptual framework, flowchart,
context diagram, and data flow diagram; and successfully developed using
Android Studio, Java/XML, HTML/CSS, Javascript, jQuery and Firebase such
that:
a. The website provides the APK file of the application which can be
downloaded.
b. The application can be access by the student by logging in with the use
of student number and password.
c. The application can send incident reports to a web server by quick
report, send a photo, or short message service (SMS).
d. The application can track the location of the sender using Global
Positioning System (GPS).
e. The website displays the reported incidents with information in a
webpage.
f.
The website allows the admin to update the reported incidents by
indicating the action taken.
3. The system was successfully tested and evaluated in terms of functionality,
usability, reliability, efficiency, portability, and maintainability with a/an _______
rating.
4. The “iReport: Calamity and Natural Disaster Reporting Mobile Application” is
highly recommended for implementation since it can be used as a medium for
easy reporting of incidents with location tracking.
Recommendation
Based on the conclusion, the researchers hereby recommended the following:
1. To develop the same application that will run on iOS or Windows phone.
2. To add an automated response from the admin.
3. To add a feature that allows user to upload video.
4. To include crime and accident activities.
5. To provide a notification alert for the new delivered report in the admin’s page.
