CONTEXT AND RATIONALE: Provide a description of your identified classroom problems. Describe how you identified the classroom
problems. Describe the students who were affected and possible causes of the problem. Discuss the goals for improvement.

It has in this context that pupil/learner continue his study at home. The strategy was assigning teaching
responsibilities of teachers and learning activities to the learners with the assistance of their parents/guardians with
the used of self-learning module.
The researcher conducted a study to strengthen the pupil’s participation in answering the worksheets in self
learning modules of Grade IV of Awang Elementary School.
According to Cindy Wyels of California State University Channel Islands, Worksheets were an effective tool in
ongoing efforts encouraging our students to engage their brains during class. Worksheets used in class can also help
direct students' learning out-of-class. (Cindy Wyels)
It was referred that worksheets make the students active in learning environment showing the way of getting the
findings in a controlled way by making observation, forming hypothesis, and doing experiments around the specific
topic (Yiğit, Akdeniz & Kurt, 2001; Atasoy & Akdeniz, 2006). It was indicated that the way to solve the problems will be
pointed out by providing necessary guidance to the students with worksheets (Yiğit, Akdeniz & Kurt, 2001; Kisiel,
2003; Kirschner, Sweller & Clark, 2006). When the students were asked to write what they know and learn in
worksheets, it was stated that they must fulfill some series of cognitive activities as they return back, consider
operations again, rearrange the information (Mason & Boscolo, 2000). Moreover, worksheets were papers that can be
used for evaluation and reinforcement as homework and the teacher hands out to the students at the end of each
subject (Anderson, 1995).
The class adviser/teacher of Grade IV of Awang Elementary School was weekly checking the worksheets of pupils
output in self learning modules and put some notes/feedbacks on pupil’s worksheets. Also, he was imperative to have
a home visits and facilitate the learner in answering the worksheets during meet the learner for remediation or
assistance. However, issues in returned worksheets, leave blank with no answer, handwritten of parents can be
seen, were among the expected problems in this new normal education. Cognitive, affective, and psychomotor were
not guaranteed to be develop and enhance if the pupils/learners not actively participating in answering the worksheets.
This study aimed to strengthen the Grade IV pupil’s participation in answering the worksheets of self-learning
modules. The researcher described the participation of pupils as active and in active. Data were gathered through Self
Learning Modules Monitoring checklist, Individual Learning Monitoring Plan, and class record of the adviser.

INNOVATION, INTERVENTION, STRATEGY (describe briefly) What instructional strategies/innovation/intervention or practices you
are to implement that is aligned to the classroom problems? Describe your implementation.

Action/intervention plan was designed and implemented within one month duration. The
researcher designed activities to strengthen active participation of pupils in answering the
worksheets such as:
a.) Checked the return worksheet weekly and address Learner Individual Learning
Monitoring Plan.
b.) Facilitate learning in answering the worksheets one’s a week during meet the learner.
c.) The researcher give advised and suggestion to the parent on how to facilitate the
learning of child at home.
d.) Letter notes and feedbacks of checked worksheets were attached in modules during the
distribution SLMs.

ACTION RESEARCH QUESTIONS

Specifically, the study sought to answer the following questions:
1. How many Grade IV Pupils are answering the worksheet in self learning module?
2. How many Grade IV pupils are not answering the worksheet in self learning module?
3. What is the effect of distance learning delivery modality to Grade IV pupils in terms of
answering the worksheets in self learning modules?
4. What intervention plan can be designed to address the problem?
5. Is there significant difference to the pupil’s participation in answering the worksheet after
the implementation of the action/intervention plan?
