Subject: Event Message 2203

Cause: Possible over tensioning of mast cable can lead to an


internal cable failure which can cause this event message.

Resolution: Checking sub-index will identify its corresponding pin.

• Refer to Service Handbook (SH) and Operating


Instructions (BL) for safety guidelines prior to working on
equipment

• Make all repairs with the lift truck parked on a level, hard
surface. Block the lift truck so it does not roll while
working on or under the lift truck

• Follow appropriate lockout/tagout guidelines. Please


refer to HPK article 000019-15C for general guidelines

In order to properly diagnose event message


2203 you must identify the sub-index.
Event Message 2203
In this example the sub index is 17.
Now identify the cause/triggering event
using the Service Handbook (SH).

The service manual indicates there is an open


circuit on pin 7 of connector XS153.

Use a wiring schematic to help you trace the indicated wire


for your sub-index and check for continuity.

For sub-index 17
measure continuity
between pin 7 on
connector XS153…

…and at pin 2 on
connector XB260.

OL

A reading of “OL” indicates an open circuit


and a damaged wire.

Use this same method to diagnose any other sub-index


related to event message 2203.
Mast cables are installed too tight, may cause premature
cable failure.
• Currently there is an ongoing investigation on cable
tensioning.
– Failures occurring mostly on shorter mast heights
– Repeat failures in the field after cable replacement
– Service Engineering is working with manufacturing
and Jungheinrich on correct mast cable installation
procedure
