34 Navigation

In normal condition:
- ADIRU 1 gives data to the CAPT EFIS,
- ADIRU 2 gives data to the F/O EFIS,
- ADIRU 3 is usually in standby.

The ADIRS is controlled with:

- The ADIRS ICP (direct control of ADIRUs for power supply, fault
indication and probe heating),

Can we use MFD if FMS Failed? No

Suresh

If you loose side slip speed is not correct

Each probe has ARINC 429 O/P

Probe heated: When ENG started + ADIRU ON or By probe heat S/W

If 2 ISP replaced leak test required. ISP Supply 115 & 28 Vdc for computer

Two ISIS located in the center of the main instrument panel, are the
back-up systems in case of ADIRS, Control and Display System (CDS)
failures:
- ISIS 1 displays the standby flight display and ISIS 2 displays the
standby navigation display.

Power supply
In normal configuration the ADIRUs are supplied with 115 VAC.
In case of loss of main AC electrical generation, the principle of the
distribution is to supply two ADIRUs (ADIRU 1 and ADIRU 3) with
the AC EMERgency BUS.

At each power-up, the ADIRU will do an internal test

One MultiFunction Probe (MFP)

gives the Angle Of Attack (AOA), the Total Air
Temperature (TAT) and the Total Pressure (Pt),

- One Side Slip Angle (SSA) probe, on the FWD fuselage, that g ives the
side slip angle parameter,
- Two Outside Air Temperature (OAT) probes, on the Nose Landing
Gear structure, that give the Outside Air Temperature.
OAT probe 1 is only connected to ADIRU 1 and OAT probe 2 is only
connected to ADIRUs 2&3.

Each probe (but not the OAT probes) has an internal air data/digital
converter and transmits the air data parameters to the ADIRUs in digital
format.
Each probe (but not the OAT probes) has an integrated anti-icing
protection, which can be activated automatically by the ADIRS or
manually with a PROBE/WINDOW HEAT P/B switch on the ICP.
In normal operation, the IR part is automatically aligned and initialized
on the GPS position. You can also use the KCCU and MFD to align the
IR part manually through the FMS

anti-icing function, except:

- The ISPs, which have a 28VDC power supply for digital converter and
115VAC for anti-icing function,
- The OAT probes, which are directly energized by the ADIRUs.

One MFP is installed on the left hand side of the A/C, and the two
others are installed on the right hand side

The three SSA probes are installed on the upper part of the nose side
of the A/C, just below the windshields
Each SSA probe transmits the data through the digital converter to
the related ADIRU.

Outside Air Temperature Probes

The OAT probes give an accurate OAT measurement on ground. The
outside temperature is normally given by the TAT sensor included in
the MFPs, but the measurement on ground is disturbed by the probe
heating (normally compensated in flight by the airspeed).
There are two OAT probes, installed on the Nose Landing Gear (NLG):
- The OAT probe located on the left hand of the NLG is connected to
ADIRU 1,
- The OAT probe located on the right hand of the NLG is connected
to ADIRUs 2 and 3.
The OAT probes are not heated, but energized by the ADIRUs.
Each OAT probe transmits an analog signal to the related ADIRU(s).

Anti-Icing Function
The probes anti-icing function can be operated in:
- Automatic mode,

- Manual mode.
Anti-icing function is automatically operated when:
- At least one engine is running,
- Or the IR Ground Speed (GS) is higher than 30 kts.
Anti-icing can be operated manually by the means of
"PROBE/WINDOW HEAT" P/BSW installed on ICP-ADIRS, when
the A/C is on ground with no engine running.

ADR Computation
The ADR and IR gives the air data parameters to A /C systems through A FDX
interface via ADCN, or in back-up using ARINC 429

(Vmo/Mmo) switch position used to define the new Vmo/Mmo value.

This SW is used for ferry flights with landing gear down. It is located
on the lower part of the main avionics compartment, between the
ADIRUs 1and 3.

The ADR part and IR part of the ADIRU 1 and 3 gives air data to Integrated
Standby Instrument System (ISIS).
ADIRS Alignment
An initial position, for this airport, can be manually entered on the MFD FMS
POSITION/IRS page, after clicking the ALIGN ON OTHER REF button. The easiest
way is to:
 select this page on one MFD, then click the button;
 select the FMS ACTIVE/INIT page on the other pilot's MFD
 enter the airport code (LFZZ in our case) then the correct latitude and
longitude entry is automatically done (FMS 1 and FMS 2 aresynchronized and
duplicate each other).
Note: if a valid GPS position becomes available, at any time during
the alignment, an IRS will complete its initialization on the GPS
position, rather than the manually entered one.
STANDBY NAVIGATION SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The ISIS also display some parameters received from MMR's and
ADIRU's, such as PPOS, Ground/Speed, heading, track, LS information,
and can also be used as an aid to lateral navigation.
In case of failure of ISIS1, ISIS 2 is automatically reconfigured in standby
flight display mode. In this configuration, it is possible to recover the
standby navigation display again by an action on the MODE P/BSW,
installed at the front face of the ISIS.

Probes

For anti-icing
function, the pitot probe is supplied with 115VAC by the AC ESS
BUS bar and the standby static probes are supplied with 115VAC by
normal AC bus bars.

This discrete is activated from the Air Data and Inertial Reference
Unit (ADIRU) 1 or 3 with the following conditions:
- one engine is running,
- or Ground Speed (GS) is higher than 30 kts,
and from the ISIS itself with this condition:
- Computed AirSpeed (CAS) is higher than 50 kts.
The anti-icing function can be manually activated by the means of
the ICP ADIRS installed on the overhead panel

MMR
Each ISIS is interfaced with the Multi Mode Receiver (MMR) 1
through an ARINC 429 bus. The MMR 1 sends the Landing System
(LS) data (LOC and Glide deviations) and GPS data (Ground Speed,
latitude and longitude).

Power supply
In normal conditions, the 2 ISIS are supplied by normal DC buses. In
case of emergency electrical configuration, their supply changes to
DC essential bus.

Note: the MODE switching is inhibited when one ISIS display has
completely failed

ISIS FAULT
Abnormal Operation
The MODE switching is inhibited when one ISIS display screen has
failed. PFD is the priority mode and must remain on the serviceable
ISIS (if SND could be selected, there would be a risk of SFD mode
loss, if the mode switching then failed).
