Protocol#3: Switching Protocols
Description:
Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1D) is an open standard protocol. STP uses
spanning tree algorithm. STP is used in switched network to avoid switching loops.
STP blocks redundant paths that could cause a loop. By default, switches forward broadcast
packets out all ports and causes loops. By implementing spanning tree, switches send probes in
to the network called bridge protocol data units (BPDUs) to discover loops.
This project defines the process used to test Functionality and its related features
of STP. This project includes Preparation of Test Suit and Test cases for Functionality testing.
Test cases are designed to be generic and can be tested on any device which supports STP.
