Towed Parachutist: Heavy Equipment Malfunctions:

Pilot Pilot (all situations)
- Lower Gear and 100% flaps (paratroop door drops only) - Maintain drop altitude and airspeed
- Maintain min of drop Alt and airspeed avoid flying over or upwind - Avoid flying over or upwind of water or built up areas
of water or built up areas - CP - Red light “ON”
- Shallow coordinated turns away from the parachutist
LM (extraction chute fails/falls or loose platform)
- CP - Red Light “ON”
- Notify pilot of malfunction
LM - Alert parachutists to stay forward/clear of the load (if req’d)
- Inform Pilot and have the jumpmaster stop the remaining - Emergency aft restraint (fwd to aft)
jumpers - Raise aft anchor supports (if required)

recommendation via LM - Re-lock and secure platform – completion of malf/drop checklist
- Priority: paratroop door – retrieve; ramp and door - cut if LM (single parachute outside)
conscious (AC final authority) - Notify pilot of malfunction (after pulling right hand emergency
handle)

of built up areas and water - Re-lock and secure platform – completion of malf/drop checklist

- Clearance to close ramp and door (if jammed in ramp area stop - Pull right hand emergency handle
closing action when released from up-lock) - Left hand Simul handle (10-20 seconds steady pull for stuck locks)
- Secure load – completion of drop checklist - Notify pilot and brace for impact
- When dropping double stick using CVR, LM will delay notifying NOTE: Pilot - max power, no slower than VMETO speed, look for
