Good morning to my friends. On this wonderful day, I would like to give a talk
regarding the benefits of joining clubs or societies. There are plenty of clubs
or societies to choose from at school. I believe, by choosing the right clubs or
societies, it will be a huge advantage for yourself.

Let me start by sharing with you the first benefit which is you can meet new
people. Rather than being only in a classroom of the same people every day
for the whole year, these clubs and societies offer you the opportunity to
meet and talk to people whom you have not met before. You can gain social
skills, communication skills, confidence and most importantly, gain more
friends. So in other words, clubs and societies offer the opportunity for you
to shoot two birds with one stone.

Other than that, by joining a sports-based clubs or societies, it will indirectly

lead you to a healthy lifestyle. For example, you can join a basketball club to
play basketball. You can choose netball, handball, hockey, football and many
more. If you are into indoor sports, you can choose table tennis or badminton.
All these activities are able to make you sweat and exercise. This is essential
because having a healthy lifestyle is much important than being a book-smart
only. As the saying goes health is wealth.

On the other hand, the opportunity of learning new skills while joining clubs
or societies is really going to benefit you as a being. In the club meetings, you
can learn how to cook, how to cooperate with people, how to learn a new
instrument and so on. The list of things that can be learned is endless. Thus,
with these new skills, they can shape us into a well-rounded person to
become independent and successful in the future.

Furthermore, clubs or societies allow individuals to unlock their leadership

potential. It is undeniable that each activity of a group of people requires a
leader to lead. A pack of wolves needs an alpha. So by joining clubs and
society, you may learn to enhance your own leadership potential because one
day, each of us will definitely become a leader.

Fellow friends, I hope you already have a club or society in your mind to join
after this. The benefits are endless but that is all I could share with you today.

PT3 English Essay Example: Talk

Example Answer:

Good morning to our wise principal, beloved teachers, and all my

friends. In this lovely and breezy morning, I would like to deliver a talk
entitled, “Benefits of a Hobby”.

I am sure that everyone in this humble assembly has their own hobby.
A hobby can be any activity that can be done during our spare time, and a
hobby is also something that can be done indoor or even outdoor. Be it a
relaxing or a strenuous activity, the purpose of a hobby is to provide pleasure
and satisfaction whilst the passing time. It is always a win-win situation to
have a hobby at bay.

On the other hand, a hobby can chase boredom away. For instance, we
can do rafting, boating, swimming, etc. These activities are proven to offer
healthy benefits as they are thrilling, as well as physically and mentally
challenging. You will definitely have no time to feel bored and it is like killing
two birds with a stone!
Furthermore, a hobby also allows us to have a healthy pastime. If
physical activities don’t interest you, there are more brainstorming activities
that offer alertness and mental stimulation. We can also think outside the
box by doing arts or music. Another example is by reading a book from the
popular series of “Harry Potter”. This will give us the imaginations of being in
a magical world that can certainly stimulate our brain. Moreover, storytelling
can also broaden our vocabulary and knowledge, as well as entertainment.

That’s all from me about the benefits of a hobby. Have a nice day and
thank you all for your attentive ears.

Dear Razif,

I was disappointed to hear from Mum that you got into trouble with
your discipline teacher. I was surprised to hear it, as I know that you do like
your school and have done well in your exams so far. Mum said that you have
to take extra classes now as a punishment. It seems not bad and I hope you
take it in good spirit.
Please do not skip classes again. It is a big mistake. Mum and Dad
trust you to attend classes and do well while they work hard to earn money.
You will let them down badly if you do not do what is expected of you. As it
is, Mum was quite upset.

When you miss classes, you will find it hard to follow your lessons.
This will become a bigger problem when you cannot finish your homework or
projects and lose marks in the school assessment. Eventually, you will feel
overwhelmed at the work you have to put in to catch up.

I don’t have to tell you that you are starting a bad habit by cutting
classes. You’re the one who is earning the bad implications out of this. Even
the teachers will have a poor impression of you.

You have been given a one in a million chance to study in an

excellent school. So take this golden opportunity well. Second chances are
rare and hard to come by.

Do you realize that your careless actions may be reflected in your
testimonial? You will need a good testimonial to enter a good university,
which will also allow you to get a job in the future. Don’t spoil your chance by
acting foolishly. There is plenty of time for you to enjoy without cutting
classes.

I am sure you will act responsibly and be more conscientious and hard-
working. This is your future we are talking about, so please don’t play truant
again. No use looking back in regret one day.

Do well, Razif, and I wish you all the best.

Sincerely,
Michele

My Family's Outing at Bukit Segar

A couple weeks ago, my family and I went for an outing to Bukit Segar
waterfall. The trip took us about an hour to reach our destination. It was a
pleasant journey as we saw endless layouts of breathtaking terrain along the
way.

The waterfall sparkled during that sultry day and the freshness of the air
made the place magical. The mesmerizing scene of cascading waterfall made
my siblings and I jumped into excitements as we changed into our swimming
trunks. We dived into the crystal clear water with haste. The chilly water
touched our nerves in a very serene way.

We were swimming and splashing water towards each other, laughter was
bursting through the refreshing air, while others were seen to be netting
some fishes. The overall experience was soothing to the ears and mind to
listen the cascading waterfall splashed the cool water beneath. The paradise-
like place was not a miss for me to take pictures. So, we took a family photo
to keep the memorable day as a souvenir.

Our stomach began rumbling and roaring like a monster after some time in
the water. My mother then spread the mat on the ground and began
displaying food on it. She prepared many scrumptious delicacies for us to grab
a bite. My father also helped her with arranging the food. My little brother and
sister were the first to dig in. We finished the food as if we were fasting the
whole time. Everyone was satisfied thus we packed our stuff and reached
home before dusk.

The family outing at the waterfall was simply an example of how our family
members bond and loosen up during our free time. All of us should keep a
close-knitted relationship family because blood is thicker than water. There
are plenty other ways of achieving it such as cooking together, cleaning the
house together, visiting relatives who are close to our hearts, or even going to
the park for basking or going to the movies. Therefore, healthy relationships
among family can be accomplished for a healthier emotional growth.

Every Household Should Carry Out Recycling

The planet Earth is a gift. The sources are large in quantities and
free of charge. The only payment it ever needed was to care and conserve it.
How? One of the ways is by recycling, especially in every household.

According to a survey, every household creates tons of garbage

every year. Most of the junks are surprisingly recyclable such as flyers, kids’
exam papers, used notebooks, and tin cans. This not only creates problem for
garbage disposal, it is also a waste. That’s why, recycling at home is crucial
and can be very easy to carry out.

Our Environmental Activists have spread the words regarding

recycling and I will share with you the easiest way to do it which is, sorting
out the items accordingly. Prepare boxes for papers to put used papers,
flyers, books, magazines, and so on. Also prepare boxes for tin cans, plastics,
and glasses. It’s as easy as ABC so all you need to do now is just do it!

When boxes of recyclables began piling up at home, continue to

deliver them to the recycling center. My school is lucky to have recycling
dumpster. Instead of the teachers throwing all the past years reports and
papers, they can just put them in the said dumpster then the people in charge
will take them away.

I hope my humble essay will be able to encourage you and your
family to start recycling at home. Rome was not built in a day, so as our
attitude towards helping to conserve the environment. One box of recyclables
at a time can make a big change for our future generations.

PT3 English Essay Example: Discussion

Example Answer

From the discussion of my brother and sister, I would agree with my sister to
buy a microwave oven as a birthday gift for our beloved mother. There are
just more pros than cons compared to buying a hairdryer.
Our mother is an active and smart lady. She always prepares meals at the
dawn of the day before waking us up and goes to work. By having a
microwave oven, she can save time in the kitchen and simply heat up
prepared meals. By buying the microwave, not only we can buy her a tool, we
can also buy her time so that she can have some time for herself too.

Even though our mother loves to style her hair, she doesn’t style it on her
own. She prefers going to the saloon to get her hair done, other than to
socialise with her friends there. Therefore, buying the hair dryer may lead to
another pile of rarely used item in the house.

Additionally, the store we just surveyed at the nearest mall is currently

making a once in a blue moon sale for the household items. The three of us
can save money by buying the microwave oven instead of the hair dryer. This
will be a huge advantage for us because a penny saved is a penny earned.

The bottom line is, I agree with my sister to get a microwave oven for my
mother on her birthday. I just can’t wait for us to buy the gift and make our
mother’s day. My sister and I also planned on making her a birthday cake.
We love our mother and we hope she will enjoy her upcoming birthday.
PT3 English Essay Example: Discussion

Example Answer:

According to the dialogue, I agree with Manan that women should not work.
Instead, they should stay at home and raise their children.

If mothers were at home, they will be able to know their children are
beginning to get involved in vices, they can nip the delinquent children in the
bud. Hence, it is crucial for mothers to be around especially when the children
are growing up. Remember, the well-being of younger generations are far
more crucial than having all the money in the world. I reckon, it is better to
stay humble and have a happy life than have a chaotic household. So mothers
are supposed to stay at home and ensure the harmony of a family and mental
health of their children.
Another reason why I concur with Manan is that mothers have a role in
instilling moral values in their children. As fathers grew busy being the
backbone of the family, mothers are the only one left to play this role, by
hook or by crooks. Children admire their parents a lot, and with the
availability of mothers at home, they can follow the good values portrayed by
mothers. This is important because without good morale instilled in children,
they will be the same as a house without pillars. No one wants a house like
that. So mothers should spend quality time with their children and teach them
love, compassion, empathy and so much more. Money cannot give these
values to them.

Other than that, a mother with her maternal instincts will be able to
understand her children's problems. With an understanding mother, the
children can confide their problems in her or even cry over her shoulder.
When this happen, children can avoid bottling up their negative feelings.
Consequently, juvenile delinquency can be avoided among children.

Therefore, the onus is on the mothers to shape their children's future. After
all, filial bond is utmost importance especially in this material era. Thus, I
strongly believe that women should not work.

THE END
PT3 English Essay Example : Recount/ Story/ Accident

It was a breezy Saturday morning. I was taking a walk to make a stop at my

favourite Mr Raju’s ‘nasi lemak’ stall before heading to an extra class. I was in
a cloud nine after receiving my food to fuel the day. As I was getting my
change, the sound of a loud brake screeching and a bang were vibrating
through the air. I almost dropped my change from the astonishment. There
was an accident happened just a few meters away from the stall!

Within minutes, onlookers were already crowding the place of the event. I
also joined to witness the unfortunate scene. I saw a guy in his brand new car
took a huge hit on the back of a school bus. Mr Raju quickly made a call to
the authorities while the other guys were trying to rescue the unconscious
man in the car. Due to the terrible crumple of the black Sedan, they were not
able to take him out. People were getting scared as the smoke of the car was
getting thicker and thicker. We were warned to stand afar.

Luckily, the firefighters arrived along with the ambulance. As fast as lightning,
the heroic firemen used multiple tools to get the poor guy out and quickly put
him on a stretcher. He was then sent to the hospital. Policemen also arrived
to secure and jot details of the scene. Investigations were done and it turns
out, the guy was unconscious due to non stop working at night. He rushed
home to see his family yet he couldn’t make it. Thankfully he is now safe and
sound in the hospital and there were no one in the school bus except the
driver since it was a Saturday! The driver was also fine and the bus was able
to claim the insurance. After awhile, the crowds dispersed and I continued my
journey to my extra class feeling a bit gloomy.

Accidents like this could be avoided if we take safety precautions seriously.

Drivers should not be driving if they feel like their eyes are as heavy as a
stone. They should take a rest at the nearest stop before hitting the road
again. With this, accidents will not happen and everyone will reach their
destination unharmed.
